On the tv the buttons are attached to a board known as input control board. It is the small board that you can locate at the lower left section of the tv once you remove the back cover. The board is inexpensive and only has a few connectors on it. Would you like to replace it yourself or is the set under warranty?

Ok. I found 2 different versions of the board and I would like to be sure that you get the correct one. So remove the back cover locate the board and get me the part number off the board so that I can compare and link you to the correct one.

Why does the volume on my Magnavox TV immmediately go to 0 as soon as I turn it on, and then after I turn it up and take my hand off the volume button?

Hello,
it would appear Volume down button is either shorted or something is constantly pushing on it forcing the volume to go down. You could try to press on the down button and see if it feels like it pushes back a little bit. The most common thing is that it gets sticky from grimy, sticky fingers, try to un-stick it using some alcohol on a cotton swab. Other that the only way to fix this is to take the tv apart and figure out the button problem that way!
Good Luck!

The volume on the TV keeps going down by itself. What should I do?

Dont know what tv you have but. You can remove the batteries from remote and if volume still goes down you ruled out the remote as the problem.. Or just take remote to another room. If the problem still exists then Im guessing either a sticky button on the tv volume down or as I have seen to many times.. People clean their tvs with windex or some cleaner and it drips down into the tv messing up the control buttons. Hopefully its just a sticky button..

I am not familiar with the Time Warner remote, but Tivo remotes require pressing "tv power" and the "Tivo" button at the same time to program them.
Maybe you are pressing one a little ahead of the other.

The volume control won't work on my sky remote

for a toshiba tv,

press tv
press and hold select and red until the led blinks twice
type in 0 1 5 6
press the power button on the remote

If the tv turns off press select and hey presto you're done, if the tv doesn't turn off, press tv then press the power button and keep doing this until the tv turns off. When the tv turns off press select.

Volume automatic decreases. Have no control of volume

Ensure nothing sticky has been spilled on the TV or the remote, causing the volume down button to stick. Remove batteries from remote to rule it out. Carefully inspect TV volume control for a sticking button. If you find it is sticking, get electrical contact cleaner from Radio Shack and spray the button. Ensure TV is unplugged first.
