Brother, as you mentioned that its a newer computer so have you installed the drivers for this printer in this new computer.
If not;-
You can install the your laser printer driver by the disk which came with your printer. still if you are not able to print.

Try to print a test page from printer console as well.

if you are able to print that means printer is working fine and something wrong with software part or cable.

When you print if you are getting any error message then please also mention that in next post then it will be easy for us to fix it.

Have you installed the printer driver on your pc? If not you can go to the Brother website, and download the driver for your printer and operating system on your pc. Once it is installed, you will be able to print.

try turning off both devices - start you computer first, then start your printer and see if that fixes your issue. if not try again this time leaving out the plug that connects the computer to the printer and then when the computer is turned on turn on the printer then plug it into the computer

Mfc-7420 says paper jammed/ and no feeding paper -all faulse messages-no paper there jammed

This is a huge problem, not only with the MFC-7420 printer, but literally every printer known to exist! The best way to solve this problem is to look at where the printer is connected. If it's connected to your computer, it may be trying to print something from there still, causing the information that the printer is receiving to become jumbled up and confused. I'm going to go step by step to try to help you out of your printer misery:

First: Unplug the printer from your computer entirely. Then unplug your printer's power source.
Second: Re-plug back in your printer's power source, and wait for it to turn on fully.
Third: Double check to make sure everything is working fine aside from the non-existent "paper jam."
Fourth: Re-plug back in the printer to the computer, and cancel all scheduled prints that are queued on your computer.
Lastly: Retry printing!

Hope this helps.

The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

This is not a printer problem. You have a computer problem. In ALL cases, the printer is told what to do from the computer, it does not report TO the computer.

restart the Windows printing services, if they run Win2000 or newer. Go to Start > Run, type CMD, hit Enter, in the command dialog that opens, type NET STOP SPOOLER and hit Enter and it should tell you the service has stopped.
then type NET START SPOOLER and hit Enter and the service should start again.
Do this on all computers until printing stops. If printing doesn't stop, power off the printer and its server (unless it's connected to one of those pcs in which case you already restarted that service).

I have an officejet 6110xi all-in-one printer. I want to connect to a second computer in my network

HI Oliver

Do you want to move the printer to the other machine completely with scanning features or do you just want to print. If you want to move the whole printer, you will need to install the drivers and everything onto that machine.

Otherwise just share the printer on the current machine and install the shared printer via the add printer network section

Thanks
