The specifications for your motherboard can be found here. The information on that page indicates that there is little room to upgrade. The board is limited to older style DIMM packages with a max. 2GB, DDR400/ 333/ 266, ECC, non-ECC, un-buffered memory. The CPU list is limited to the early 754 socket types - the newer designs are based on an AM2, AM2+, AM3 and beyond. You can check out the full list here.

Due the age of the board, upgrades to the fastest CPU will still leave you several generations behind the mainstream systems of today. I would not be surprised for this board to run Windows 7 only slowly - even if updated fully.

I would suggest a new motherboard, CPU and memory installed in your existing case. Reuse hard drives, CD/DVD and whatever else to save a few bucks. The newer boards that support faster CPUs need faster memory. The memory slots on new boards will not accept the DDR400 you've got in you current board. PCIx based video is much faster than your board's old AGP based video, too. You can usually find nice combination packages consisting of 2 or more of the following: main board, CPU and memory from places like Microcenter, Newegg, etc.

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply - thank you.

Your motherboard can take any AMD Athlon CPU (this does not include the newer multi core or Athlon 2 CPU's), as well as up to 2 gigabytes of DDR400/333/266, ECC, non-ECC, un-buffered memory. That memory has to be split between 2 dimms as the motherboard will not work with a single dimm of that size. Also, ensure that when you do put memory in that the 2 memory sticks are exactly the same.

It will support up to 2gb ddr ram (4gb with bios upgrade from asus site) and its a socket 754 so the best proccessor you can run on that are the athlon xp 3300+ or an athlon 64 here is a link to some of the proccessors http://www.google.com/search?q=socket+754+processor&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=socket+754+processor&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&hs=7ow&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=ivnsfd&source=lnms&tbs=shop:1&ei=WD-CTZnwCbCy0QG1oNzHCA&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=5&ved=0CBAQ_AUoBA&biw=1280&bih=618&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=8d444cf7837c3a49

i would reccomend the 64 2.2ghz or the sempron 3300+ maybe even the optertron but thats more for a server base. but big gain improvements. if your trying to get more video use a good agp video card. and the ram is ddr 400mhz.

LET ME KNOW IF THIS HELPED

ASUS K8V-MX motherboard "UNKNOWN PROCESSOR"

There is a processor installed that the BIOS cannot recognize. Update the BIOS in the motherboard.

Also make sure the CPU is in the CPU support list, on the same page. If it is not a supprted CPU, you will get that error.

Can i fit a bigger processor to my ASUS K8V-MX Motherboard and mybe more ram and if so where can i purchase it from

This motherboard supports a AMD Athlon 64 / Sempron processor (Socket 754). Since this is an older unit you will have to search on Ebay for a processor.
As for the RAM you will need DDR 400, this can easily be purchased at www.newegg.com There is a maximum of 2 gb on your motherboard.

Can windows 7 be installed on asus k8v-mx mb with amd sempron 2.4 1gb ddr1ram

this is the minimum spec for Windows 7:

  • Processor: 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor
  • Memory: 1 GB of system memory
  • Hard drive: 16 GB of available disk space
  • Video card: Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128MB memory (in order to enable Aero theme)
  • Drive: DVD-R/W drive
  • Internet connection (to download the Beta and get updates)
Its not the motherboard, its the processor speed, RAM size, and hard drive space, and video card capability that counts.Your processor speed well meets this criteria and also your RAM size is within spec for Windows 7, and im sure you will have in excess of 16GiG hard drive space. So its all down to your video card. You may need to install DirectX 9.Hope this helps :)

Asus k8v-mx mbd no display

It would be nice if you can get something on the screen, isn't it? Try fixing a AGP VGA and check. Remove HDD cables while checking for MBD errors.

Pls help me how to solve the asus K8V-Mx mother board

you could check if the pins of the processor aren't bent or broken...(even one single pin will make the processor malfunction and in your case it might not boot up) or you could have wronk ram modules so check the motherboard supportedmodules and check the modules you currently own.
