Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. A card reader can be no more expensive than a USB cord, and just as portable.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Canon ZoomBrowser or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

How do you download pictures

Two ways - either attach the camera to a spare USB port on the computer with the supplied lead, and treat the camera as a satellite drive, or else remove media device and use a separate card reader to copy the images to the computer.

Transfer pictures from camera to computer

I have two digital cameras and transferring pictures couldn't be easier.

I simply plug the usb lead into the camera and switch it on and then plug the lead into the computer. Both the camera and the computer recognise they have been connected and the Windows photo wizard starts automatically. From there photos can be downloaded from the camera or deleted.

I get black screen on geovision800 like it doesnt detects the cameras

are you referring to a webcam???

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA
the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty

even the electrical extensions even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause this problem or just replace them they could be faulty
a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question mark ? or exclamation mark ! or a red x right click select reinstall drivers also you might uninstall the display adapter restart your computer then reinstall the display adapter and its drivers this would apply to the sound video and game controllers to

If you computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it

If you don't have the motherboard disk you might need to download them
for a webcam
click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there
if you are have trouble with your webcam
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark?
right click to reinstall drivers or update driver

if you dont have the driver you will need to download one here are a few you could try

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket
hope this helps

Computer won't recognise camera to download images

** Problem Solved **

I found it wasn't the camera entirely to blame. I tried another USB cable on another pc, and although the camera was doing the same thing as my problem, the computer recognised the camera as new hardware, and asked me how to access the pictures. So I was able to get the pictures from the camera to the computer, and then saved them on to my Kingston flash drive. So taking the flash drive to my daily PC, I plugged in my flash drive via a USB extension lead, and discovered that would read either... alarm bells rang. So I unplugged the lead, and put the flash drive straight into the computer direct. The computer recognised it immediately. So plugging in the extension lead again, and the flash drive, it read this now. So I tried the camera, and it recognised it.

So I don't know exactly what the problem was, but it was solved... saved me a lot of running around and money ;)
