Question about Audio Players & Recorders
What you are facing is a problem of weak battery. Sometimes, batteries tend to show that they are charged completed whereas they are not and drains very quickly. In order to come over this problem, you have 2 choices. Either buy new Nicad batteries or charge them through a process that will make them work like the new ones. This can be done by NiCad Battery Repair Complete Manual which is very easy to follow and has high potential for future progress since this guide helps to recharge every Nicd battery without any problem.

Your battery is most likely a nikle cadmium (sometimes called "NiCad") these batteries develop a memory that sometimes makes them only stay charged for as long as they have been used. Some of the newer chargers discharge the battery fully before restarting the charge which usually brings them back to full charge (normal length of time). Also you battery may just be worn out, they can only be charged a finite number of times. I would first discharge the battery till it is absolutely dead and try the charge routine again. if it doesn't work buy a new battery. P.S. There are ways to erase the memory of a battery, but it is considered dangerous for those inexperienced with the technique, so I won't explain it here.
