Question about Amana ARS266ZBS Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

My Amana side by side refrigerator's water dispenser continues to run a stream of water well after the dispenser has been released. It will also run a stream of water when the ice maker is being filled. Had to shut off the water supply to prevent leaking.

The ice maker works fine, no issues with producing or dispensing ice. The water dispenser will not stop. It started as a drip but is now a continuous stream for several seconds after you release the dispenser (about 10-12 seconds) It now produces a stream of water when the ice maker is being filled with water to create ice.

What is the part number for that water valve? How do I install it? Another response had the problem being the dispenser lever or the dispenser solenoid. Would you consider that a possibility? If not why? Thanks for your assistance

Thanks Daniel, I thought the valve made more sense since it started out as just dripping then gradually became more of a stream. The water does eventually stop running which would coincide with what you were saying.

    Thanks Daniel!

Hi

The issue is with the water valve that is bad and is overflowing with water, yours is a dual valve if that goes bad it will lead to overflowing and so leaking of water. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

I did not say it cannot be an
issue with the solenoid (part no 67006000
    )...I
said from your question the issue is with the water valve (part no 12002193) and to replace any of these
parts you will have to take it apart. You can check these diagrams that will
help you in replacement. Hope this helps...please post back for further
    assistance.

The water dispenser lever is got loose or cracked. When you depress the lever,it pull the water flow and water gets filled. But in your case the lever is not getting back to its position so water is filling non-stop or for more time even when lever is released. ------------- but if water dispensing dispenser is looking ok then other possibility is dispenser solenoid. If this solenoid gets stuck open then water will not stop, still the dispenser solenoid gets closed.in some cases this solenoid gets stuck by frost of ice build-up and causes this.In that case eith the hair dryer has to be used to defrost the ice or the refrigerator unit has to be unplugged from wall outlet for few hours. But if there is no frst build up or defrosting the frost not helping then dispenser solenoid has to be replaced. ------------- To see how this part looks. Please see the fig below:---- My Amana side by side - helpmech_101.jpg

There is water valve. At the back of cabinet. The one is the main valve and other is primary valve. The main valve is not the issue. But the other valve also called primary valve has to be checked and replaced. This valve lets the water in the water dispenser when you depress the dispenser. But if this valve remains open then it will release more water then required and so water still comes out, even after you leave the dispenser,

    -----------

    Click this link directly.

    -------------

part number 17 and 18 are water valve.

    ----------

Check both the valves. If they dont close properly then water will flow and this makes the water to keep running, even though the dispenser is released.

    ---------

    this should help.Thanks.keep updated.Helpmech.

Water leak electrolux

Good Morning atgltd,

So I understand that your water dispenser continues to release water for several minutes after pouring a glass of water and that it also randomly dispenses water. It sounds like something could be going on with either the dispenser module or the water actuator. Give the refrigerator a hard reset. You can do this by either unplugging it or by switching the breaker off that it is connected to. Leave it off for 3-5 minutes. Connect the power back, and if you are still having the same troubles of the dispenser releasing water, I would suggest that you contact a local authorized technician to see what exactly is causing the water to continuously dispense.

-Best Regards-

Where is the water filter on the amana #scd25tw

The Amana with model number SCD25TW does not have a water filter. You would have to install an in-line filter on the water supply line if you want to filter the water. If your talking about the model number ARS266ZBS, then open the refrigerator door and look at the top right hand side. You should see a filter housing with a tab to release. Once released you have to remove the filter from the housing to replace it. When finished be sure to run about a gallon through the dispenser, to flush any air out of the system.

Water dispenser dripping water all the time

Hi,

First be sure the refrigerator is connected to a cold water supply. After connecting the refrigerator to a water source or replacing the water filter, flush the water system. Use a sturdy container to depress and hold the water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, and then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the dispenser lever (5 seconds on, 5 seconds off) until a total of 12 L has been dispensed. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing system, and prepare the water filter for use. Additional flushing may be required in some households. As air is cleared from the system, water may spurt out of the dispenser.

One or two drops of water immediately after dispensing is normal. It may be necessary to hold the container under the dispenser for 2 to 3 seconds after releasing the dispenser lever.

Hope this will be useful.

Thank you

My Aman side by side quit dispensing water. It

Does your fridge have a small tank inside the food compartment? If so, the water may have frozen in the tank and the problem can be solved if you take a blow dryer and warm the tank. That's what happened to mine and with a temp adjustment to keep the food compartment a bit warmer, the water doesn't freeze.

Amana refrigerator not running but light and water dispenser work

Hi, Remove the front kick plate at the bottom and locate the defrost timer box. You will see a hole and there will be a round switch you can turn. Turn in clock wise and see if the refrigerator starts.
If it starts, the timer needs changed. If it does not starts. locate the cold control (thermostat)
Check continuity on the switch. If it is the on position and the circuit is open, you need to replace it.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic
