A vertical bar is frequently a sign that the matrix decoder has failed.

The usual solution is to replace the display panel itself. Dependent upon the model, sometimes this may not be economically viable.

There is also a possibility that the connexion between the display panel and the motherboard may have come loose. Try removing the connexion and replacing it before you replace the display panel.

You need to replace the entire control board. The display is built into it, but it is easy to replace.

You just need a screw driver to install the display control panel.
To install the part, do the following:
Turn off the unit and unplug it.
You need to remove the screws on the back of the unit and remove the back. It slides up. Then slide the sides toward the back. You need to remove the side without the water canister. The side with the water canister just needs to be slid back enough to reveal the screws at the top front of the unit holding the display. Remove those screws on both sides and gently pull the top front display cover off. There is a long ribbon (similar to one found on a hard drive in acomputer, which is exactly what this is) with a clip that attaches to the main control panel on the left side of the unit. Remove that (noting how and where it attaches - I mark everything), take apart the inside of the front panel to reveal the display board, remove and replace it along with the water tight seal. Plug the new display into the control board, reattach the top front panel to the body of the machine, reinstall the water container, plug it in and turn it on to see if it works. Mine did and so I reinstalled the sides - they just slide forward, then I reattached the back and the machine was good to go.

This is just a bad display control board. You need to replace the actual display control board in order to correct the issue unfortunately. I'm not sure what shorted out both your main control and your display control board, but you will need to replace your display control now. hope this helps :)

To replace the the LCD screen of your laptop, You need to be very careful in replacing this screen. Please kindly follow the steps below to be able to guide You in replacing the screen.

1. Shut down the Acer laptop, unplug the AC power adapter and all extensive devices.
2. Remove the battery pack from the battery tray that is at the bottom of the screen.
3. Open the display panel as far as You can open it.
   
4. Pry the rubber screw covers from the display panel's front cover with a small, flat-head screwdriver.
   
5. The front panel is the front plastic piece covering the LCD screen.
   
6. Remove the Phillips-head screws fastening the front cover to the display panel.
   
7. Remove the front cover from the laptop with your fingers.
8. Remove the Phillips-head screws from each side of the LCD screen that fasten the screen to its metal frame inside the display panel.
   
9. Tilt the screen forward, then disconnect the large ribbon cable from the connector on the back side of the screen.
   
10. Peel away any tape securing the cable in place. Lift the screen out of the display panel.
11. Place the new screen inside the display panel.
    
12. Reconnect the LCD ribbon cable to the back of the new screen.
    
13. Align the screw holes on each side of the screen with the screw holes on the metal framing inside the display panel.
    
14. Replace the LCD screen's retaining screws.
15. Replace the display panel's front cover, and its retaining Phillips-head screws.
    
16. Then replace the rubber screw covers.
    
17. Replace the battery pack, then reconnect all cables and devices to the laptop.

Display Panel Problem....

my Onkyo TX-SR805 AV receiver works properly except No Display on the front panel.

I follow the instruction troubleshooting on the manual by resetting the unit but to no avail. It's beyond warranty period.

Firstly you need to open the Panel carefully to clean the Glass Display
Secondly, once you buy the Phone Panel check for the required tools to open that and then you can open and change it..

You will need to replace the whole in-dash A/C control unit. Changing the small bulb won't rectify your problem, as the display is LCD.

there are 2 screws at the top outside and 2 or 3 on the bottom of the display panel. remove those and the panel should lift off the mount. remove the ribbon cable and 4 screws for the display and replace.
