Question about Epson Stylus 880 InkJet Color Printer

1 Answer

I have changed the cartridge, reloaded the driver and the printer head moves appropriately but no ink - the pages come out blank. I think it may be a mechanical problem with the printer?

Try first time to change the print head,if the problem persist you need to replace the service station(purge unit).

No printing is made only blank paper is coming out

Hello

1 Clean Print Head
The print head gets clogged due to frequent usage. Therefore, the ink will not be able to get out of the cartridge. Hence, the printer only prints blank pages. The solution to this problem will be to clean the print head. This can be done by cleaning it with a damp cloth or with an Iso Propyl Solution.

2 Check if Cartridge is Empty
If this does not work, your next step would be to check if there is any ink in the printer cartridge. You might be giving a command for a high resolution printout, but the ink might not be enough for such a purpose. Look out for the printer prompts that will tell you about the low levels of ink.

3 Install the Correct Printer Driver
Many a times if you are downloading a printer driver from the internet, you might download the wrong driver. This will result in the computer not recognizing the printer. The result is blank pages.

4 Check for Appropriate Paper Size
Another facet to be taken care of is the paper size. You must check the Page Setup Dialog box whether you have selected the settings that are in tune with the paper size that is being used for the printing.

5 Check the Operations
If nothing works for you, then a printer operations checks is in order.

Document is blank when print spooling and prints only blank pages. even test page printed is blank

I can only think its a problem with the ink cartridges.
Is it a new printer?
Have you taken the tabs off the ink cartridges?
Does it need a head clean?

When I print only a white page comes out, with no text. Do you know why this happens? It just started 2 days ago. It's not an inc problem.

Canon BJC 80 prints blank pages!!

i think u already solved your problem...your printer's problem is its printer head...u cannot solve this problem by fixing it yourself.all u can do is to buy new printer head at printer's shop. it is true because i got the same problem with my BJC 200.i do the same solution as u r and lastly, i go to the technician and he said i need to replace my printer head at some price.....just think bout money n i discover that buy a new one is better(as for my problem)

not to discourage u, but try to plan either to buy new printer head or buy a new printer....

hope this solution help... ; )

Select print and paper is blank - all cartridges have ink

dear friend

the thing that you have changes is ink tank, not the whole unit

this problem is with all the machines which have separate ink tank and head assembly

generally head gets blocked and users keep on changing the ink tanks

friend you have to change head also to get your machine working

thanks

When the printer runs out of ink, the head moves accross as normal to let me change the ink, but while I am trying to change the ink cartridge, the head starts moving spontaneouly and jams with the ink...

Printers can do strange things, they are none the less mechanical in some respects. Whilst in operational mode, they can start up and resume a print job that has been spooling for hours ( usually due to network issues or overloads ) but getting back to your problem, i would suggest turning the unit off when the head is in the correct spot and insert the cartridge.

Additional info ( not required reading )
I have one theory is that most manufacturers are re-using older software drivers and updating where needed, and aren't getting away from the step by step type program enough. If a printer misses a step for whatever reason, it will continue to behave strangely until the unit has been put back in sync. Please someone tell me why is this so ? and if i am wrong, why does my printer fire up in the middle of the night, spit out 10 blank pages for no apparent reason ?

Printer won't print

I have had a similar problem to this: I have had a BJC 80 for nearly 5 years and carried it around with my laptop using Win 98 and a par - par cable. It worked beautifully and successfully - so much so that when i saw a number of ink tanks going at very cheap volume prices in PC World i picked up a lot of them. Changing to an XP meant that i had to keep on using the par to par cable via a docking station but prevented my use of it with my new laptop - so when i brought it out of retirement it gave the blank printing problems yoiu described. By checking some error messages that it expected a black cartridge (which is what was installed) i found that inthe setup the software indicated it defaulted to colour cartridges. By changing this on the computer, it still printed blank pages but by changing the cartridge to colour it sprang into life when the set up asked for colour. I tried 2 other print heads which i had (3-4 years old) but still blank paper when printing to a black cartridge. I am now awaiting a new black print head carrier to see if it makes a difference. When trying with my laptop using XP and a par - usb cable it does not work at all. I have removed the sware driver for the Canon 80 and manually installed the one for the Canon 85 but no luck in printing to par - usb at this time
