Question about Seagate ST373453LW 73GB 15KRPM 68pin U320 SCSI Hard Drive

1 Answer

I have removed my Seagate Cheetah ST373453LW Hard Drives from my desktop as the desktop has died. I want to download all the data from the hard drives and I'm told I need a USB-to-Hard drive connector to do so. Where can I purchase this specific connector?

browse over to and select the options on the right hand side that match your drive. That will give you the model number.

Then go to and fill in the model and serial numbers to get the right software drivers.

I was running 2 scsi drives in a raid 0. One drive failed, how can i retrieve the files off the the still working drive, and can i?

Hi there, Sorry to break the bad news, but when one hard drive fails in a RAID 0 configuration, all data is lost. Your only chance is to take it to a professional data recovery center, where you could be charged hundreds, or thousands of dollars for a data restore. Seagate will do these recoveries for you. RAID 0 has no redundancy, unfortunately. Sorry about that, Alex

My window 7 doesn't detect 2nd HD (seagate cheetah st173404). I can see it list in Bio/advance setup/hard disk drives. But I can't see it in boot and also can't browse it in window 7 disk management....

If the drive is not being detected properly then ether the SATA port you have the drive connected to does not support the drive or you need to install updated SATA drivers for your motherboard to fully see the drive. I myself ran into this the other day when I upgraded the hard drive in my computer.

If you are not sure if it is supported and/or having trouble finding drivers let me know the make and model of your motherboard.

No light- not detected by computer-humming sound

Hi Mary

It sound like you have a dieing hard drive . If you unplug it and leave it for 2 minutes then plug it back in to see if a 'cold start' will help it. If you do get it running get all the pictures/files/documents of it as soon as possible. And don't use it again.

Seagate have a program for testing there hard drives at

download and install it and see if it can help.

If it still wont run and you have photographs/files/documents that you need of the drive you will have to look at data recovery.

I fix a lot of computers and over the past 2 years I've come across 4 Seagate drives that have failed and only one other brand .I don't know whats happening with the company because years ago they were the best hard drives you could get but now from personal experience I would give Seagate hard drives a wide berth.

Hope this helps

My Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320 GB SATA Hard Drive is less than 2 years old and has crashed, any fixes?

Hard drives are only designed to last 3 to 5 years. Most hard drive manufacturers only warranty them for 1 year.
For whatever reason yours has died.

Backing up your data is imperative.

If you need to recover data from this hard drive, there are places online that you can send the drive to and they can recover the data on your hard drive. This can cost you a bundle though. If the data is not necessary, all you can do is buy a new one and reinstall your operating system.
