Question about Life Fitness Ultra Digital Pedometer HJ720ITLF

3 Answers

After running and downloading the data off the unit I can't figure out how to reset the miles/steps etc. The first day it mysteriously went back to 0 after I downloaded the data. The second day it split my run into 2 events. The third day, it counted all of the second half of yesterday and all of today together. I love this pedometer but tell me what I'm doing wrong!

Your reply seems jumbled. Not sure if something happened when you sent your reply. I need to know how the unit was designed to reset the miles/steps etc. without re-setting the whole unit. There must be a way!

    Thanks.

Do you have knowledge about this particular pedemeter? There is no option for deleting files. It asks you to hook up the USB cable. Then it transfers data. Then it says data transfer complete. End of story. There is no option. I am hoping to receive help from someone familiar with this particular pedemeter. Thanks though for your efforts!!

The unit may not count steps correctly in the following conditions:
1. The memory is displayed or the unit is being set.
2. The unit is not positioned correctly.
• When the front of the main unit is placed in the angle of less than 60° or horizontal to the ground.
NOTE: The unit can count steps even if it is slanted or placed upside-down, or if the main unit is
perpendicular to the ground.
3. The unit moves irregularly.
• When the main unit is placed in the bag and the bag moves irregularly because it hits your foot, your belt or the top of your pants.
• When the unit hangs from your belt, the top of your pants or a bag.
4. Walking at an inconsistent pace.
• When you shuffle or wear sandals
• When you fail to walk consistently in a crowded place
5. Up and down movement.
• Standing up and/or sitting down movement
• Playing sports other than walking
• Ascending or descending movement at stairs or in a steep slope
6. Vibrations from a moving vehicle
• Such as riding a bicycle, automobile, train or bus.
7. Jog or walk extremely slowly.
NOTE: The unit will count steps during jogging if it is attached to your belt or the top of your pants with a holder.

To change the time, weight, or stride length after the setting is completed:
1. Press and hold the SET Button for 2 seconds.
2. Change the setting.
NOTE: If the setting does not need to be changed, press the set button to advance to the next setting.

The first time you use this device, the first few steps are used as a test. This may be why your data was reset, but it sounds more like a device problem.

If all else fails, you may have a faulty Pedometer. If that's the case, contact Omron Customer Service: 1 (800) 634-4350

Usually when you download the information ..in the wizard you use it has to be a case ,which ticked, erase the data from the device ....or just remove the battery ..usually this will erase the data ..but remember that you will not be able to have a comparative record of the progress or performance ..
basically you have to pay attention on the software used for downloading the data ..and when you download look careful for the date ..and other stuff.. avoiding to download data from 2 different sessions ..or so ..and also in this software has to be the erasing feature ...if you are not interested in keeping them but just to have a clue about the one you just done ..

Like I said ..the unit is designed to be deleted after you download if you set the wizard (the program you use for downloading ) to do so after download.
So take a good look when you download step by step ...specially on the first step or so ..and see if you have an option (a case to tick on ) that say delete files after download or something similar ..
If there isnt ..it should be a separate feature at the end that asks you if you want to keep the files or not in the device ......maybe you disabled it ..so look in the options or files too ..cause ..this is what I think happened the first time .....either asked if you want to delete the files and you pressed yes,,or the case that activates this function was ticked ..

When does the clearview pedometer reset

I'm responding 'cuz my Clearview pedometer remains something of a mystery to me, too. So I apologize, right off, about the length and confusion in this procedure. Maybe someone will add a simpler, comprehensive list of commands.
W/o access to a user manual, here is what I've learned about it. Barbara, I didn't think it reset itself... maybe you can explain. I did find that when I hit the "reset" button on the back (to the left of the belt clip), it resets the Step (number taken), Mile (distance traveled), and Kcal (calories burned) to zero. One click for all-three together.
More SETTING steps: The menu is a vertical column to the right of the digital display (from top to bottom: Step, inch, LB, Mile, Kcal). As you scan down the menu, look for the teeny > arrow pointing at one of the functions. Normally the arrow skips from Step, to Mile, to Kcal. If you've been using it, and there are numbers in these fields, you can manually reset these to zero by pressing the "reset" button. Those 3 fields should now register "0" when you scan through the modes as before. I believe this does not reset your stride or weight settings.
These other 2 modes: inch (length of YOUR step), and LB (YOUR weight = this helps in calculating your calorie consumption... I think) were a bit tricky to reset to MY body. I managed to select those modes and enter my own data somewhat haphazardly, by simultaneously pressing the two buttons on the right (Mode, and Set); and then (sometimes, but not necessarily?) pressing the Set button alone. Either way, if you're lucky (!) you'll eventually get a blinking number and the arrow > indicating which field you're in: inch, or LB.
If it is the inch field, it will read 0, or something like 30 (your stride in inches). If you want to change it, press the SET button repeatedly (lower/right) to INCREASE the number in the field. Apparently you can't lower the number directly - if you instinctively press the upper/right button (MODE), it just closes the setting function.
So in order to set to the length of YOUR step, keep pressing (or you can hold it down) until you reach your stride length... it continues up to 120 inches (!!) before restarting at zero. I haven't figured out why it opens in inch, or in LB, but by randomly pressing both rt-hand buttons, I can eventually get into each of the two fields. The weight settings in LB also adjust only upward by pressing the SET button (that is, once you get the field to open). You may have to go to 150# (its max. setting) before you can begin at zero again. Last weird note: When I can't seem to get into these fields at all, I have had some success by pressing and HOLDING the SET button until the reading (usually 0, by then) blinks off and then on, once. Then you can proceed with the other steps.

My Garmin Etrex Summit records tracklogs and shows them on the screen but when I upload them to my PC all tracks show as 0 miles, 0 altitude etc

2 possible reasons.
Either memory is full.
Try remove all data from history, and have a small run.
It should be OK then on PC upload.

If not OK, only hard reset can cleanup device, and return to factory settings.
Consult your manual for hard reset instructions.

Brand new Garmin 1300. Husband now travelling, un...

A Garmin Nuvi 1300 that won't start, freezes on 'loading maps,' or is acting erratically is symptomatic of having corrupt firmware.

To correct this, I recommend backing up your favorites, clearing all user data, and if it still is stuck, then updating your Nuvi firmware.

Follow these three steps to take to get your Garmin Nuvi 1300 running like new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

Doesn't download recent data. It says its downloading but it is not there when download completed. 11/06 is last data in cpu. 11-06--11/29 is in bp cuff

Hi,

I had seen the same download problem many times, and after fiddling with the pedometer for a couple of hours I figured out the basis of the problem and was able to fix it.

Being a software engineer, I figured that since it copies each day's data to memory once the clock clicks over to 12 AM, there must have been one day somewhere that had corrupt data.

The download would always reach a certain percentage and then fail and as more days were saved, the percentage went up slowly. Unfortunately,

Omron does not provide a mechanism to clear the internal memory inside the pedometer, which it really needs to do. The reset button on the back does NOT do this. The software on the computer has nothing to do with this problem. It is completely internal to the pedometer itself.

In any case, to fix the problem, I just started setting the clock to 11:59 PM, waiting a minute and doing this quite a few times until the corrupt day's data was pushed out of memory. It holds 42 days, so eventually the data will be erased. Well, it fixed the problem!

Of course, when the download finally worked the data was all screwed up. Then I just exported all the data to CSV, opened it up in a text editor and fixed the screwed up days, then re-imported the CSV file using the software.

Shame on Omron for not making it more user-friendly and providing a button to clear the memory or enabling the software to skip over and delete corrupt data.

Following this step should solve your issue...

Please leave me comment, if you need further assistance

Numbers and light, but no power

It sounds like you have a bad control unit (the circuit board). We repair controllers nationwide for $39.995 in most cases, but if a part is needed which we cannot get, then it will need a new board. That can be ordered from http://www.vancebaldwin.com If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety and disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
