Question about Dishwashers

Open Question

SGV55M43EU - The machine does not spray the water even if the pump works. The only way to have the water spray is to add water manually directly inside the machine. I checked the inlet valve (acqua-stop) , it seems to work. many thanks, Alessandro

SOURCE: Upper spray arm doesn't move. Replaced inlet

Water-inlet valve Most cleaning problems are caused by the dishwasher not getting enough wash water, so the water-inlet valve is often to blame. This valve is usually at the bottom left or right of the dishwasher, behind the lower access panel. It's the device with the main water line from the house, a rubber tube to the dishwasher, and two wires attached to it. When a water-inlet valve is defective, you may hear the sound that's usually referred to as "water hammer." If the water-inlet valve is defective, you need to completely replace it. Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve Replacement

Be sure to read and understand any instructions that come with the new water inlet valve.

Tools required:

Adjustable wrench

Multi-Screwdriver

Pliers

Step 1. Disconnect the dishwasher from its power source.

Note: Dishwashers are usually wired directly to the home’s electrical system. To disconnect the power, switch off the circuit breaker or remove the fuse for the electrical circuit the dishwasher is attached to. Try to turn the unit on after disconnecting the power to be sure you were successful.

CAUTION: If you’re not sure you’ve shut off the power properly, DO NOT CONTINUE. Call a qualified appliance repair technician to complete the repair.

Step 2. Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. This is usually underneath the kitchen sink or in the basement or crawlspace near the location of the dishwasher. Pliers may be helpful here.

Note: If there are no shut-off valves, you must shut the water off at the main water supply valve for your home.

Step 3. Remove the lower panel(s) of the dishwasher. These are usually held by 2 to 4 screws at the upper and lower corners of the panel(s).

The inlet valve is usually near the front of the dishwasher. Attached to the valve you’ll see: 2 or 4 wires, the water supply line from the house and the water feed line that goes to the dishwasher.

Step 4. Remove the household water supply line from the valve. The line is usually secured with a brass compression nut. The water supply line is usually copper or braided stainless steel.

CAUTION: Water supply line may be hot.

Step 5. Remove the fitting from the valve the water supply line was attached to. This fitting may be very difficult to remove. It may help to put the valve into a vice in order to remove the fitting. If you cannot remove it, replace it. The fitting is not an appliance part but a plumbing part that is available at most hardware stores.

Step 6. Remove the screws holding the valve to the dishwasher frame.

Step 7. Label the wires to the valve so you’ll be sure to reattach them correctly.

Step 8. Remove the wires from the valve.

Step 9. Remove the clamp on the black rubber water discharge tube and pull the tube off of the valve.

Step 10. Reinstall the old fitting (or a replacement fitting if necessary) onto the new valve the water supply line was attached to. Use Teflon tape or pipe joint compound as a thread sealant. Make this fitting tight to prevent leaks. Make sure that the fitting points in the same direction as the old one so that the water supply line will meet up with it properly.

Step 11. Install the new valve in the reverse order of the removal instructions.

Note: The water supply line is under high pressure. Be sure to tighten the fittings properly.

Step 12. Turn on the water to the machine, and check for and correct any leaks.

Step 13. Reinstall the access panel(s). Restore the power to the dishwasher and test.

Note: You may have to let the dishwasher run a few minutes before it reaches the next water fill cycle.
Internal filters Every dishwasher has some type of filter to keep large food particles and foreign objects away from the pump assembly: Most modern dishwashers have self-cleaning filters that don't need any routine cleaning. Some have filters in the bottom of the dishwasher that you need to periodically clean. You don't need any tools to remove the filter, and cleaning it is easy. Consult your owner's manual to determine which type you have and its maintenance requirements.

Defy dishwasher does not wash or spray the water but is filled with water and goes through it cycles, what can be wrong?

The motor that pumps the water out of the machine is the same motor that pumps thru the spray arms. The motor runs in one direction to pump the spray bar and in the opposite direction to drain the water out. look at the cycle timer. It switches the direction. If it proves good then the motor is bad.

The water from the relief valve means the boiler is very full, lets work on the water problem first then we will go to the pump.
IF the machine is not turned on does water flow out of the relief valve? ...if yes then check the manual fill to make sure it is in the off position. If no then we will need to check the level probe and or the inlet solenoid, because something is telling the machine it needs water.
For the pump is there any sound from it when you press the brew button? ....If yes then it might be blocked and you will have to remove the ring collar from the brass head, to remove pump from motor then check to see if pump head rotates, note direction on front of pump head. If no then you might have lost a fuse or there is a loose connection at the main box.

I need the owners manual for the ortho dial n spray hose end sprayer.

From forums.gardenweb.com

"The instructions on Ortho Garden Disease Control (Daconil) give directions for use in the dial and spray. Set dial at 4 Oz. Add 1 TBS Daconil and 7 TBS water for each gallon you want. I am using the dial and spray and don't see as much residue as when I was using a pump spray.

Light on.Timer on.No water is coming in.Machine not starting

May be pump problem. Air trapping inside the pump also makes this noise. Add water in the chamber direct manually. Close the door and start the cycle. If the running is Ok, it is air trapping problem. Next wash load it will be alright. Otherwise clean the pump.

Often these work by reversing the motor which has two pump impellers. One direction will pump the water out and the other will pump it through the spray bar. IF the one pump impeller has broken then that would explain your symptoms.

If this is the type you have, verify that the motor is running reversed from when it is draining. If it is not running during wash time, then the timer is probably at fault. If it is running, check for broken pump impeller for the was direction.

Spray is very fine or not spraying

Any air leaks in the suction portion of the machine will cause it not to spray or spray weak. This is a airless paint spray correct? Your paint should be at least thin down using 1 gallon of water for a 5 gallons of paint. I find Baer paint is even thicker and had to slowly add more water.

To check if it is your paint. Fill a bucket of just water and see if it will spray your water. Of course after it gets a good prime. Let it recirculate until the water is coming out of the bypass as a solid stream. If it does not spray water then you have either a air leak or your pump packing needs replacement.

Let me know the results and the make and model of the machine.

99 Taurus wont start unless primed. Fuel pump is working

Check/Change Fuel Filter(s), PVC Valve & Emission Hoses
and/or
Gas that sits too long won't fire easily that's why we have to add winterize to our lawn mowers!
Try filling the tank with some high grade fuel cleaner additive. This stuff is like rocket fuel (about $10).
Also add a can of dry gas as you may have a lot of water and water vapor in your system!
Get a couple more cans of starter fluid too. (I always needed at least two to get my diesel running for summer)
Keep spraying and starting (It always took me at least a full can sometimes 2)
When it starts keep the gas pedal down and rev high for a good 5-10 minutes then see if it will idle.
If it still stumbles and falls consider adding another can of fuel system cleaner and/or dry gas.
Don't drain the tank as this usually just makes it worse by letting the bottom sludge stir up.
Never let your gas tank get too low as this will foul up your fuel system and always add fuel cleaner after every oil change (a must for fuel injection and cat. converter care)

Good Luck!

I have an equator PLS600 and I can't seem to get it to work. I have tried the WikiFix to help a stalled dishwasher, by adding water and vinegar. When I put on the wash cycle it does not run. Even with the...

Give the spray arm a spin to make sure it rotates. It should spin freely. If not, remove plastic spray arm clip, flip it over, replace it, and try again. Make sure holes in the spray arm are clear of debris. Spray arm must be clean for it to spin. If spray arm does spin freely, remove spray arm clip, spray arm and the post assy (the thing the spray arm attaches to). Try your WikiFix again. This time add baking soda to the hole the post assy came from. Top it off with white vinegar. Leave it overnight. In the morning, stick your finger down the hole where the spray arm assy sat. You should feel a plastic thing. This is a propeller attached to the recirculation pump. You need to free it up. Get that thing moving with your pinky or a chopstick or whatever. Try the machine without the spray arm. You should get water blasting up from the hole. Reassemble the spray arm.
