Question about Computers & Internet
Most cameras come with a USB cable. There are two methods to downloading pictures. Connect your USB cable (supplied with the camera) to the computer and turn on the camera.
In this example, the camera is a Lumix DMC-LZ3. Here (RED CIRCLE), is the USB connector. Connect one end of the supplied cable to this plug and the other end to the back (sometimes front) of the computer (most have 4 USB ports)
as shown here (back).
When you turn on the camera, it may display "FOUND NEW HARDWARE" or it may just display this screen:
When you open it up, it should show you a directory. You can then right click on that directory and click on SEND TO, MY DOCUMENTS. It will put a folder there and you can then proceed to edit it, give it a name (rename that is) and so forth.
The other way would be to purchase a card reader, hook it up to your system (Most of the time, drivers won't be needed) and remove the card from the camera and insert it into the card reader. This way the screen will automatically pop up, and you can view the pictures as if it were another drive on your system. From there, it's all up to you.
The other way would be to use the included software to access your camera via the USB port and have the program do the transfering for you. What you do is load the software that came with the camera, reboot if asked, launch the included software, plug in the USB cable first to your camera, then to the PC (computer) and turn on the camera. The software should do the rest.
