If you call 1-800-R-U-Legit then microsoft will walk you through the steps to activate your product as long as it's a legitimate version.
Try the automated system first, and if that doesn't work, speak to an agent.

My window vista licence version downgraded to windows xp. when tried to update microsoft updates , started getting this error code 0x80070003 saying "YOU MAY BE VICTIM OF SOFTWARE...

HI, Usually the reason that you are getting this message is that you might not yet registered the licence for your windows XP. IF you have a legitimate copy of XP. all you need to do is to register XP using that product key.
Thank you for using Fixya, your recommendation is highly appreciated for the free support.

Hi
The message "you may be victims of software counterfieting.... " comes out when you use illegal copy of the software, and your copy need to be authenticated.
Is the message appear for the whole Operating System (windows) or specific software?

Window XP when i turn on computer there is a message that you may be a victim of software counterfieting

Hello sanaejaz28
Probably your software is not genuine . You need to buy a valid key that is no more available at Microsoft's . You can purchase an install disc at one of these places and use the key to validate your XP OS : http://about.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib.php/page_id=186/form_keyword=windows+xp/rd=1/st=query

My computer shows "you may be a victim of software

you have to uninstall windows and office for your convenience and to remove that piracy warning. after reinstalling your software, DO NOT register your copy of windows nor your office online for the serial key may be blocked or blacklisted.

How to solve "you may be a victim of software counterfieting"

The Solution is simple, Just purchase the licensed version of windows, otherwise you will be committing the crime of SW piracy.

Temporarily you can get rid of the message, just uninstalling the Genuine verification patch from control panel.

'you may be a victim of software counterfeiting

OK, This is a notice from Microsoft. The validation tool thinks your Version is a counterfeit. It is not a virus, but is still a headache no less. It will not go away, we can't shut it off. The only way to fix is to reload with a valid code or call Microsoft to report it. I hope this helps :)
