Hi, you can place some oil on a piece of paper that you wish to shred & put that through your shredder. You do not need to saturate the paper, but use enough to lubricate your shredder.

Why does espresso maker OK light come on just 2 minuets after turning on?

Hi Rustfarmer,

Inside the machine is a high-pressure canister that is used to super heat a predefined amount of water. Once the water has come to a boil, and reached a predefined pressure (15bar) and temperature, the light comes on once the pressure switch is made.

If you have recently used the machine the canister will still be hot or if the water level is below the required minimum the time-to-ready will be greatly reduced causing the light to come on. However, if the light comes on and the water has not come to a boil, it could be due to a few reasons.

If the light comes on and temperature / pressure not reached, it could be due to

  • a faulty heating element or pressure switch,
  • a blocked (due to calcification) water tube, causing the canister to heat up and super heating what ever water is left causing the pressure switch to be made.
These machines are mostly mechanical and requires very little maintenance. The above are the most common problems experienced.

In the case of the pressure switch or heating element, I would suggest checking your warrantee and request a replacement/repair.

In the case of calcification, check the De' Longhi website for a cleaning kit to decalcify the system (Recommended method). If your machine is outside its warrantee period and you do not want to spend the bucks, you could use a home made recipe of white vinegar and water (Not recommended, it could wear down the rubber seals). Just make sure that you rinse the machine thoroughly before making the next cuppa.

Please let us know if you do not succeed and need further assistance.

NEED INSTRUCTIONS FOR OILING INNER WORKINGS

Oiling after something overheated isn't the solution. It may be needed due to the age of the machine, but not until you locate what exactly is making the smell, which may be the plastic near the bulb. I would take the cover off and sniff around to locate where the smell is coming from before oiling.

At idle the oil pressure light comes on

i would say the car is safe to drive.IF the pressure sensor was working correctly, and your engine was a complete dog, then you would expect there to be some loss of oil pressure, but not 0 to 4bar in a blip of the throttle.given that the oil pressure sensor is a common fault (and it controlls the oil pressure light, it is not a seperate switch), i would say the sensor has a 'dead' spot on it, and a blip of the throttle just sees it outside the dead zone of its reading, and pings back to 4bar (its natural to get a slight rise in oil pressure when higher revs are acheived). 4bar is the right value, its what mine sits at. maybe a tiny bit under (3.95) when the engine is very hot/in traffic the oil pressure is reading just over 4 at all times, dosent go up or when accelerate or down at idle is this normal, used to mercedes W124 where it can register .3 up on idle but when accelerate it should goto max, ie 3 bar Whats the mileage on the car. Sounds like It certainly is suffering from low oil pressure at tickover, but loads of cars do and continue running for thousands of miles. blue/white smoke on start up and that points to valve seals and, yes, the head would have to come off to replace them, but it's normally just blue smoke. White smoke points more to head gasket, but that would be replaced anyway when doing the valves.Bet the engine sounds smooth as silk too
Oil pressure is determined by the rate at which oil flows through the internal combustion engine of a car. Low oil pressure is a real danger for engines, as it indicates that the bearings in an engine have worn, allowing the oil to flow more easily and at a lower pressure. However, high oil pressure is generally not a concern for motorists. Oil pressure fluctuates with the heat of a machine, and though high oil pressure can indicate a serious problem, it generally means the engine is in an adjustment period.Oil Pressure at Idle For many cars, oil pressure is much higher upon start-up or while idling. The reason for this has to do with the temperature of the engine. When an engine has been sitting turned off, it cools down, as does the oil that flows through the machine. Upon start-up, the engine temperature begins to rise. As it rises, so to must the oil heat up to find a level pressure to flow through the machine. Cooled oil is thicker, causing it to flow more slowly and at a higher pressure through the machine, until it reaches its optimal operating temperature.Pressure Relief Valve Recurrent high oil pressure, even after the machine has been running for a while, can indicate a problem with the pressure relief valve. The pressure relief valve is responsible for regulating oil pressure throughout the internal combustion engine. It is a safety device intended to keep vessels or piping from experiencing extreme pressure. When this device is malfunctioning, it will cause high oil pressure in an automobile.Types of Oil The type of oil put into an engine can also account for extremes in oil pressure. Low-weight or thin oils will operate with low oil pressure, as they will pass through the machine quite easily. Thicker oil will pass through the machine at higher oil pressure readings. Generally, after an oil change, when fresh oil is introduced into the machine, oil pressure will increase. This, however, is only a sign that the oil that formerly operated your car was too thin for optimal performance.

I have a 2000 Mercury Cougar and the gauge inside tells me that the engine is over heating, no heat is coming from the heater when I turn it on, the fan for the engine is running at full blast, the engine...

Hi,

The overheating and lack of cabin heat both point to a failed engine thermostat which would be stuck closed. At the warm up stage, the coolant stays in the engine block to bring the engine to efficient operating temperature, then it opens and circulates the coolant through the radiator and heat core. If the thermostat is stuck closed, the engine will overheat, and coolant will never reach the heater core, and you will not get cabin heat.

Blinking oil light at idle which goes away during driving could be a low oil level, but may also be a drop in oil pressue. You could have a clogged oil fliter (at best) pickup tube, or a failing oil pump.

I have a Poulon pro 18 42cc chainsaw. The dealer says I ran it with oil in the gas and I did not. What can cause the same effects of the appearrance that there is no oil in the gas.

cylinders that seize around the exhaust port of the cylinder usually come uner the headind of a lubrication break down ( loss of an oil film between the moving piston and the cylinder bore ) once the oil film is lost, the piston heats up very quickly and expands in the bore, the alluminium is then scraped off the front of the piston, this will gum the piston ring in, the hot gasess from the combustion process then blows past the piston, so the machine has basically seized.
Reasons for a lubrication seizure are.
Insufficent two stroke oil in the fuel.
Poor quaility two stroke oil in the fuel.
Incorrect grade of oil in the fuel.
Lack of maintenance.
Internal bearing break down within the machine.
Over heating due to dirt blocking starter cover air vents, and choked around cylinder finns.
Over heating due to poor chain maintenace ( blunt chain )
Incorrect carb settings ( running too lean )
Blockages in the fuel system causeing over reving.
Working practice ( over loading the saw ).
Air leaks within the machine causeing lean mixture and over reving.
Stale fuel, water in the fuel, dirty fuel.
Hope this answers your question, as you can see there are many reasons for a machine to seize.

1. Oil light comes on when car is standing still or not accelerating. The oil level is full. 2. Passenger side heated seat is not working. You can turn it on and it goes off in a couple of seconds.

The oil light problem is a faulty sensor or faulty oil pump itself. The Heated seat is a weak thermal switch or a short. You will have to test the circuits for the seat heater.
