Question about Amana 24 in. ADB1500AW Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

I have an Amana ADB1500AWW dishwasher. It runs fine, and all of the cycles complete, but the heating coil stays on when its done. We have to leave the door open at the end of its run, and can't run it and leave, for fear of fire. Is this a control card problem?

There is a recall for this heating element. We had it repaired last year. I don't think it took more than an hour.

Here is a link to the recall info (you can also schedule a repair or rebate): https://repair.maytag.com/prjjck10/defau...

This Dishwasher although working on one side should not be an issue as long as the dishes are getting clean. If your unit has the Pots and Pans setting or heavy wash cycle with this option pushed the water pressure should be then adequate and then be seen on both sides of the arm. If you have not tried this do so. This unit has several manufacture's problems to look out for..The control relay on the board fails leaving the dishwasher useless. The door locking safety feature has a bad switch these reports are public information in many reviews with the same problem over and over. So these things you should look for possibly in the future Maybe it never happens to you. Remember to rate my solution and give testimonial this is how i earn achievements here on FixYa Thanks in advance.

It doesn't clean well I have bought rinse lemishine and it doesn't clean dishes and leaves a white residue I'm using cascade

Hi

White film deposits are observed if water is hard or when you are using more detergent than needed, try filling detergent cup half way. Try using white vinegar after the wash cycle is complete, run a complete cycle. Also turn down the heat on the hot water fed to the dishwasher. Try using water softener for better results.
You can also add vinegar in the final rinse cycle. Make sure that your soap dispenser drawer is opening and closing fine.

Hope this helps... Please post back if more information is required.

Dishwasher leaves residue on dishes. Salt levels seem fine, rinse aid ok, and cleaning block is released fine.

We have an Amana dishwasher, model ADB1500AWW that will not drain.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

Heating Element Won't Turn Off

Ok, this is a control fault that may be corrected by shutting the power off for 5 minutes. this will reset the chip set on the control board. plug the unit back into the socket after the 5 minute ait and check to see if the element is still on. If so, replace the control board.
