Question about Toshiba Satellite Pro P300 Notebook

2 Answers

Hi, I am trying to set my Toshiba Satellite

Hi, I am trying to set my Toshiba Satellite P300-20H (PSPC8E-01F01YEN) To Factory state.... But in my manual..It states that before setting your computer to factory state, you need to SET ..YOUR BIOS..TO DEFAULT.. .I have not got a clue how to do this..as i have never reset my laptop before I am just going off the manual..It tells me to do it..but not how exactly to do it.. I have searched online..and have read various ways, with people saying to press different keys, But i havnt found an answer for my model of laptop.. So if any one can help me out..I would really appreciate it...Many thanks..In advance...

    Hi again Specialistel..

. Your going to regret answering my 1st question....
I have gone into the the HDD Recovery ..Its doing its thing right now...FINGERS CROSSED..iT ALL GOES OK.... i am suprised how simple it is....it guides you through and makes sure you really want to wipe your laptop...

You said when i have finished..I will need to go to toshiba.com for updated derivers.....

Do you mean connect my my laptop up to internet and download all the required updates needed....To get my laptop back up to the current date ....????

As the laptop is nearly 2 years old... So i should go onto toshiba.com and maybe type in UP TO DATE DRIVERS FOR SATELITE PRO P300-20H LAPTOP..??? Or something like that..??

Very sorry if i sound really un-educated...I assure you i may not be the sharpest tool in the box, but i manage to get by in the world ..But when it comes to computers and laptops i am most defornately not educated and im just scared to press the wrong button incase i break it...

So i hope the question i have just asked..Doesnt make me sound a bit slow...I just want to be reassured before i go ahead and do what you said...

    Many Many Thanks In advance.....

Excellent.....Specialistel.... I think its nearly done...
    Thanks....
As soon as its finished..Il be logging on to www.computers.toshiba-europe.com
and i will get the updated drivers that are required...
I wouldnt have known about that...
So i appreciate you pointing that out to me.....
I hope it will all be sorted in the end, as im having withdrawel symptoms from my laptop....
I just prefer my laptop to our pc...Even though the pc is new....I just hope it will be as good as new when finsihed..... Thanks Again

Kind Regards To you and have a great Day.....

After pushing the power button to start the computer, press the F2 key repeatedly. That will take you into the BIOS. If you miss it, just do it again. Once in the BIOS, use your right arrow key to navigate to the "exit" tab, then use your down arrow key to navigate to "load setup defaults" or similar phrase. Push enter and confirm.

Just before the laptop boots, a Toshiba screen opens inviting F2 or F12. This will let you into the BIOS menu if you press F2 at that time. When you are there, find Default Settings in the menu and press F10 and enter.
That is now set to default and you can start the restore process.
Hope that helps.

If you restart and go through by pressing F8 as it boots up, you will be given the option to restart/recover etc.
It takes a while and you will need www.toshiba.com for updated drivers when it has finished.
    Hope that helps.

    You too.......

  • specialistel Mar 17, 2011

The procedure you are undertaking now is complicated compared with the driver download procedure.
As you are UK based, log your laptop into www.computers.toshiba-europe.com
There are a few questions to go through, like what is the product, I usually let it detect everything itself. Once you are there, look for updated drivers and click on them. They are all drivers that will install themselves!
    Then go for it again.
Toshiba have really got it right I think.
Have fun and it is no trouble at all. I have an L300 and have been there as a total novice, some time ago I must point out.

I want to restore my factory settings

Do you have the restore discs? If not order them or go to Toshiba site and order them or download them if that is the option they provide for you. Also if you have the restore disc then just insert the restore disc and follow the on screen directions.
Make sure that the boot order is set to DVD or CD as the first boot and hard disk as the second boot this should be already set in the BIOS. Order the discs if you do not have them imperative. Thanks for using FixYa!
P.S. If you cannot get a restore disk from Toshiba I use this site for all restore discs. Note you have a PayPal account it is free to get at PayPal.com I use PayPal because I know it is a legit site. Click Here

IS there any factory seeting hidden in TOSHIBA

On some models of TOSHIBA laptops you can access the system restore partition by tapping on the 'zero' (0) during boot.

This will erase EVERYTHING on your drive and reset it to a "out of the box" state. So be sure to back up anything you want to keep before doing a system restore.
