Question about Computers & Internet
Glad to HELP YOU!
I am an AVG user for years and I really have confidence in this software. I never had an error - it didn't matter on what machine (32 or 64 bit) I've installed it.
What I suggest you is to check if the INSTALLER (like avg_xxx_1234.EXE) is valid and isn't broken. That's why I want to suggest you to re-download the executable (the installer) from another source - just to make sure it won't be corrupted.
After you downloaded the new *.EXE file just perform an UNINSTALL of the previously installed AVG 2011 and REINSTALL it again. Make sure BEFORE you will start to install it to CLOSE ALL YOUR APPLICATIONS! To do so just press simultaneously CTRL+ALT+DEL; that operation will take you to the TASK MANAGER; click on APPLICATIONS and close (force close - if needed!) ALL APPLICATIONS.
After that you may start the installation.
My best wishes!

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
