Question about Heating & Cooling

AC Compressor I am trying to determine where the compressor contactor is in the Coleman roof ac in my fifth wheel. The unit blows cold air but will not shut off. Regardless of settings on the thermostat the compressor keeps running. The only way to shut it off it to use the breaker.

You can find the contactor in the access/service panel area.

Check your CONTACTOR - the black "block" where all the line wires connect. Sometimes they stick. It's a cheap part, although make sure you take a pic of the contactor with all the wires attached BEFORE you take the wires out to get a replacement.

I have a Coleman mach 3 ac unit. ive replaced everything except the compressor. the fan will come on but when i put it on ac it blows the fuse in the thermostat.

Fuse in the tstat?? First inspect the low voltage wire outside for imperfections, such as bare wires. Unhook the low voltage wires to condenser outside and cap with existing wire nuts. Then replace fuse and turn system on with cooling. If fuse still good then you have a short in the contactor coil in the condenser. Need new contactor. If fuse only blows when a call for cooling it's in the wire for low voltage or the contactor itself.

I have a heat pump. it stays on i have to turn it off by the breaker. also my ac only blows out warm air what is my problem

You may have a bad thermostat, keeping the unit on,or the compressor contactor in the condensing unit outside seized shut. When contactors get older they can kind of melt the contacts together. This would also cause it to run in heat mode.

Hi, if you are energizing the contacts on the contactor, and the compressor runs, the thermostat is faulty. This is what energizes the contactor coil that you have. You need to check to see if you have voltage to the coil on the contactor. You need to replace the stat asap.

if the compressor started and stoped means
1 thermostat need settings
2 compressor over heated due to low suction pressure need to check and repair the leak then charge the freon

My coleman mah 3 roof top will not blowon fan side

Sounds like you have either a bad fan motor or a bad fan motor capacitor. When you turn the unit on with the fan not working, the compressor (the humming noise) runs and gets real hot real quick resulting in the compressor cutting off ( the nothing after) on it's inside high temp switch. This is what the compressor is designed to do so that when this happens, it does not burn the compressor out. Replace you fan capacitor, give the compressor an hour to cool, then try it. In most cases and if I'm correct, the unit will run just like you want it to. Good luck.

Coleman mach 3 rv roof mount ac

You will need 12 vdc (battery or converter) for controls to work, and 115 VAC (hydro) for fan & compressor to work. With your fan obviously working, that tells me you have both already but compressor may not be kicking in. Do you hear a "moaning" sound or see lights dim when switched to cool?
