Question about DeLonghi ® Combi CoffeeEspresso Maker

1 Answer

I have a DeLonghi Coffee/Espresso machine. It leaks profusely out of the bottom. Originally it was not brewing and we sent it back. They fixed the not brewing problem (I'm assuming it was a fuse) but now it leaks from the bottom. Any suggestions

Hi Kavogel,

Leaks sometimes caused by a detached drain tube or the tub does not drain. There are some ways on how to correct the problem, either you check the sewer drain and restore the connection of the drain tube or the tub. In addition, please follow the steps below on how to determine the cause.

1. Check the tub if it's not drained. Please check the sewer drain.

2. Please check the drain tube if is detached, broken or has obstruction to water flow.
--> to fix it, just restore the connection of the drain tube or tub.

3. It might be a a hydraulic leak in the hydraulic circuit, so you need to identify and eliminate hydraulic leaks.

4. Check the O-ring or poor mechanical seal of the shaft.
--> check also the status of the pump.

5. The inlet and outlet connections are loose. Please tighten the connections.

6. Check if the hex nut of the pressure relief valve or of the filter are loose. Tighten them.

7. The gasket or the O-ring of the pressure relief valve or of the filter are defective. You need to replace the gasket and the O-ring.

--> Please make sure not to change the calibration of the valve.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

It leaks like a sieve every time you brew coffee!

I found that ours would leak if the accuflavor knob is turned to much toward "strong"

I moved it to half way between strong and weak and it does not leak anymore.

UPDATE 1/2/16: Ours started leaking again and turning the AccuFlavor knob had no effect. However, when I PULLED UP on the lever (towards the ceiling), the leaking stopped and has remained stopped, no matter what setting the lever is turned to.

Water is leaking out the bottom while brewing coffee

It could be a problem with the hoses and valves on the inside. When the heating element gets hot it pulls water from the reservoir through the valves. The issue with this is the limited availability of parts for this particular machine.

This is a bit late, but it is probably the rings inside the machine. I sent mine to the repair shop in San Francisco and it was about $120 to fix. It works GREAT now. Coffee is back to like new.
