With a small torx driver (not the folding kind, the screw driver kind) and some patience, the belts can be replaced pretty easily. They run about 10 bux for both (you may as well change both). Dyson, like most manufacturers, makes it seem difficult in the hopes that you'll send it back to them for repair, where they will most likely sell you the whole clutch assembly because its easier to replace than fiddling with belts.

Dyson would love to nickel and dime you, not to mention shipping there and back if you don\'t go to one of those "Authorized Service Center" dungeons. It is quite simple to replace this belt despite what they say and you can get it cheap on eBay. I\'ve done it twice, quite successfully I might add. I am not and engineer although I do happen to know my way around a toolbox. Maybe I\'m a genius and don\'t know it. If that\'s the case, I\'m sure you are too. Thus, you can do it too. Happy fixing.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

The belt on this machine is part of the clutch mechanism and as such we only recommend that a suitably qualified engineer carries out any repairs to this.

If you would like to talk through the options with one of our advisors, please contact our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON.

SOURCE: How do you change the belt on a dyson DC 07

DC07s have two belts - one connects the output of the motor to the clutch, the other connects the clutch to the brush bar.
I suspect the belt you are to refering to is the one from the clutch to the brush bar. Unfortuenately the other belt is hidden under a plastic cover, so you cant see if it is okay or not without some dismantling. This cover is not easy to remove and requires a Torx driver to under the securing screws.
If, after removing the cover, the other belt is okay, then you have a faulty clutch. New clutches are available on eBay reasonably cheaply, but again good tools and DIY skills are required.
Have a look at which has some excellent info on dismantling and repairing your machine, but unless you have access to such tools, and feel confident to tackle it, it's probably time to call Dyson or a Vacuum repairer.

SOURCE: Where are the 2 filters

The first filter is located just above the canister and below where the brush and flat tool are stored. The second filter (Hepa) is located under the canister.

Why is it such hard work to hoover the carpet with the dyson dc is really hard just pushing it across a new carpet.

Are your belts working and is your power head set too low? Try raising it up one or two clicks. A broken belt will not let your brushes spin and a spinning brush will help it go on carpets.

My dyson dc33 beater bar won't turn

There are belts in the clutch, which is the lever you can move to adjust the vacuum from floor to tools. The belts become stretched and need to be replaced. You can purchase just the belts or purchase the clutch assembly with the belts installed. There is also a belt change tool that makes the job much easier to install because the new belts will be much tighter than the old belts. The parts are available from

I have a Dyson DC33 bagless vacuum and the beater brush is not turning .. How do I get the cover off the brush to change the belt?

If you lay it down so you can see the bottom of the vacuum, there should be 3 flathead looking screws, just turn them a quarter turn or so, and that bottom should pop off so you can take the brush out and change the belt, just make sure you watch how that brush comes out so you can get it back in correctly. Oh make sure its unplugged!!
