Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

I went to turn on my acer aspire one netbook today and it remained in the black loading screen with a white dash in the upper left corner for quite some time, after which in the same black screen with a white font it reads "Intel UNDI , PXE-2.1 (build 082) Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v2.0.0.9(05/08/09) Check cable connection! PXE-MOF: Exiting Interl PXE ROM. No bootable device --insert boot disk and press any key" I have tried pressing enter and escape but it just brings up the same message. I am currently studying abroad in Germany and my netbook is really the only way for me to stay in touch with friends and family, and to work on schoolwork from my dorm. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you very much for your time! -Jordan Panasewicz

    Hi jbpanasewicz, The problem is your BIOS can't find your hard drive. It's either it is dismounted (the data cable/sata cable is not tightly hooked to *********** board or into your drive).

    There's another way that you have to do first without resorting to dismantle your laptop

    Option 1.
    Enter CMOS to check if the first boot sequence is your hard drive. To enter CMOS or the Delete key after starting up the computer and seeing the first splash screen. Sometimes you have to press it many times to get the timing. Look for the Boot Sequence and change it to Hard disk/Hard Drive. Save your settings by pressing F10. It means save and exit. Click ok and restart.

    Option 2.
    a) If the first boot is already hard disk/drive, you can reset your CMOS settings to default.
    b) Save and exit, then restart.

    Option 3. (Checking if sata cable of your drive is connected tightly)

    Option 4. (Booting your system with a USB device) You can't see your data files here but you can check if your PC is ok and it's your drive that is can find some info on this link:

    *Note: if you're not techy enough to dismantle your laptop just go to the nearest techshop.
    By the way, check first your warranty. :)

When i turn on my acer aspire one d255;it only shows - in upper left corner..i can press alt and f10 and go to acers recovery management..but it wont do nothing from there.

Remove the hard drive and reseat it back in place, this is enough in some cases in getting it started, no change! have the hardware tested for possible replacement.

My Acer Aspire 1 will not boot properly. There ia a small white cursur blinking in the upper left corner. I tried Alt f10 but that did not work:-( Do you have any suggestions?

Reboot (by pressing Alt Ctrl Del) press F2 frequently after reboot to go to bios setting. Make sure NO flashdisk/ thumbdrive plugged in to usb port. Choose hardrive as firstboot (in the bios setting under the boot tab) save the changes and exit

Black screen on acer laptop

this is commonly caused by HDD failure. I suggest try replacing your HDD.

Acer aspire 5100 won't start

I don't what to say about that. I have never come across that problem before. Have you tried pressing F8 as soon as you turn it on? Have you put a windows disc in to see if it will boot from the disc? The only info I could find on PXE is at this link Maybe you can get a better idea of what it is and how to fix it if the options above do not work. Good luck.
