Yes, most likely the Drum has picked up static charge on the edges so is printing everything with random smears. you can attempt to clean the drum with cottonbuds, but endure that you do not touch any part of the roller as this will make it worse. but I would do it, just to confirm that the drum is the cause. it will improve for a little while, which means it is the drum. then replace the drum with a new one.

The printer is printing out pages with black plot of ink running down the left hand side. We have shaked the ink and replaced it with a new one and the problem is still here. Please help!

If you are getting a smear down one side, chances are that your fuser film is damaged. This is the teflon coating on the heater element that keeps the toner from sticking to the heating element. Depending on the page count of the printer, if you are anywhere close to 150,000-200,000 I would just buy a maintenance kit for the printer which will give you a new fuser, transfer roller and feed rollers. If page count is less than 150,000 you could look at just buying the film off Ebay and replacing it yourself. Just make sure that the lower pressure roller is not damaged as well. If you look at the lower roller, it should be smooth with no visible lines, cuts or deformation.

I am getting a wide black line all down the paper when copying or scanning. this started yesterday after scanning some photos. How do I get rid of it ?

chances are if you go into your printer setup or options (might be on the printer its self, or on the software) there will be an option to clean the heads. pick this and it should get rid of it. if that doesnt work... take out the ink carterages, wipe them off with a dry paper towel while holding them upside down. now replace them and print a few test pages until it looks normal.

Hi, I have HP LaserJet 1020 and few days ago three tiny black dots appeared on the left side of the printed pages, just by the border. The borders apper at regular intervals. I found somewhere that it...

dots printed are from the cartridge, you proved that with the change to the old one. If the fuser was faulty, it would repeat the dot 2.5 times down an 8.5 x 11 page
Replace the cartridge and please use HP , remanufactured cartridges fail prematurley and usually wind up costnig more in service and repair/exchanges.

How do i stop my printer from leaving ink streaks down the right side of my pages?

I was going to suggest removing the fuser and looking at the rollers, but on this printer it's a major operation.
Instead let's run the half test. Put paper in the manual feed tray(tray 1). Print to the printer. When the sheet of paper gets pulled about 3/4 of the way in, open the top cover. Pull out the toner cartridge. Look down at the paper. Does it have a streak down the right side? If yes, replace the toner, if no, have the fuser replaced.

Try to clean the area around the head output (sprayer). I think it's caused by the waste ink around the head.

Samsung CLX Printer printing unevenly

it is possible that this is a fuser prob, fuser works applying heat and pressure, if the roller, either the pressure roller or the fuser roller is defective this is most likely will happen too, you might want to  check the number of copies or prints made

Ricoh Aficio CL3500N is now printing all documents with lines/streaks all down the left margin of the page. What do I clean or replace to get rid of these unsightly lines printing on every page?

you can try printing a page in black only, then one page each in the 3 other SINGLE colors: Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. this will eliminate/ confirm one of these causing problem.

the replacement of Transfer Belt Cleaner or Cleaner Assembly is another to try after the above separate-color thing. see if there's a status page of life remaining on replaceable items, including the Transfer belt assy.

i'll assume you didn't scan the job- - this isn't a multifunction scanner/printer type machine?

ok, next in line is to check the Fuser unit, the part on the upper left side/top of printer. if the same streaks appear on the Main fuser rollers, these fuser units cost about 350 bucks. there is also a Fuser Kit, which costs much less, but its job is to add Fuser Oil to the fuser unit and keep paper and ink from sticking.
a guy could suffer sticker shock from the costs of running one of these, considering you could drop a grand buying all 4 drum units, a fuser unit, and a transfer belt assy. . . .
