Question about Intel D102GGC2 Motherboard

When I watch a show from youtube or when I use a programme that require much graphic, my screen will have an instant black out and recover from the blackout followed by a notification which states: "Driver display has stopped responding and has recovered. Display Dirver ATI Radeon Family stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and there were times where my computer turns out a blue screen with the description as follows: Remove or disable any newly installed hardware or software. Disable components, restart and press F8 to select advance start up option and select safe mode Technical info: STOP: 0x00000116 (0x84F10350, 0x8EC3A49E, 0x00000000, 0x0000000D) atikmday.sys- Address 8E (SA49E,base at 8EC 18000, DateStamp 4844bf0f). However, I did not install any new hardware, except those updates from Microsoft for Windows 7, OS which I am currently using. I would like to ask, how can I solve this driver failure and prevent it from occurring. The ATI Radeon that I am using is ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series and I like to update it to a newer driver but when i install drivers like "Radeon display driver ver. 8.591" from "http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/Pages/radeonaiw_vista32.aspx" (ver 8.591 is deemed a suitable driver for ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series by this webpage: http://driverscollection.com/?H=Radeon%20Xpress%20200&By=ATI), the installation failed as the drivers does not match. Also, I tried to download drivers from drivercollection.com, however, I cant download as the IP Address differs. Please help me out as my computer screen constantly enter a "instant-black-out-and-recovered" situation. Your help is much appreciated ^^

There appear to be problems with alot of different software and windows 7 as faras compatability. In my expierience, you never want to allow any upgardes to ATI/AMD through windows., I learned that the hard way. They ar not compatable and usually immediately screw up resoulution and send you searhing for a way to fix the picture(blue screen). The third link is AMD's link for updates which should work for you. If this doesn't help let me know in "add comments" at end of solution.

You will need to clear the cache (temporary internet files) in your browser! I had this happen earlier this week with YouTube and that solve the problem instantly!

Was gone overnight and when I got home I could hear the fan was still running on my laptop even though it was shut. Was hot to the touch and now it won't turn on I see LEDs lit up but the screen is black


Classic symptom of the nvidia graphics chip failing. Why it failed to shut down I'm not sure of.
What has happened I think, is that the laptop, while running, has built up enough heat to fry the graphics chip ( of caused the solder to loosen). The cpu will withstand the heat, especially as it gets cooling directly.

You can try and strip it to clean out the fan and heatsink of debris and dust, however, in this case I suspect the damage has been done and you will need to get the chip "reballed". Costs about 60.00 on Ebay.

My Hp Note Book DV 9000 17 inch when the problem first started the Screen was vibrating and showing different colours. Now since three days when switched on the display is totally blue . can you advise...


most likely the graphics chip has overheated and the solder has melted and lost it's joints on the motherboard. you can either reflow the bga (this doesn't always fix it, or undoes itself if not done properly, or replace the graphics chip, or change the motherboard. here are some useful videos:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhxOVh2sbl8

When you stated that you tried to recover it several times, how were you able to attempt that if you have no video. You cannot see what you are doing.

Nonetheless, you GRAPHICS CHIP is shot. Your laptop is essentially dead. The system will power on but the graphic chip will not produce a video. Often people reflow these chips, however, they seldom last long and the video quality is compromised.

If you can see the video on an external monitor then your screen, LCD Inverter, or Video cable is bad. If you cannot see the video on an external monitor. Your graphic chip is dead. End of the road for your system. Don't waste your time and money on the reflow.
