If the machines ice storage capacity is 26 lb per a day then that is all it will make in a 24 hr day Now this depends on water temp entering the machine, the ambient temperature around the machine and the condenser coil and fan is not dirty. Now the machine is capable of making 33 lb of ice in a 24 hour day but the storage bin capacity is only 26 lb if you don't remove any ice it will make only around 26 lb and shut off until it melts and causes the ice maker head to start.

Model EP1chexbq00 no airflow on bottom: top freezer works but not bottom. Fan works.

Ok one of two problems. Either you have an ice block or you have a plugged drain. If you have a couple of dif choices. If you have a back up fridge than fill it with the contents of the broken one. Unplug leave doors slightly open for about 48hrs. Have towels for the water from the ice. Usually 2 or 3 bath towels. Plug back in and if the problem happens again within a week than your bi-metal ( defrest thermostat) is bad. To replace you have to remove the back panel in freezer and and on the condenser coils near top you will see a little round silver part.
Option 2- If no backup fridge or you have time. Have a hair dryer, 3 bath towels, a 1/4 inch nut driver (may be phillips) for screws. Unplug fridge and open freezer. Remove contents and place in ice chest with ice.remove screws from back wall pull panel forward. If you have an ice maker ther are two screws on the top where the ice fills at and one at the bottom. Also disconnect the quick connect for the ice maker. Remove back panel. You will see one of two things either all your coils are iced up (frost on all coils is normal) or two where it drains on silver plater has ice blocking drain hole. If ice is blocking drain remove and pour hot hot water down drain until it flows into drain pan in the back of fridge by compressor. If the coils are all iced up have towels ready. Start by putting a towel where it would normally drain where the towel is soaking up the water. Turn hair dryer on and melt ALL thee ice. some ice will be in the middle of coils and in back where you Cant see. Keep the hair dryer moving sitting in one place too long can damage wire and the walls of freezer. Melt all ice until no more water is falling from condenser coils. Than you will have to replace the bi metal. Put everything back in and plug in wait about 2 hrs before putting contents back in freezer. Just to let you know the the fridge will NOT cool down until freezer gets down to temp. Than the air will start cycling into fridge. If you have anymore question please feel free to comment me back for further assistance.

Ice collecting on the back of the freezer causing defecient cooling in the fridge and freezing in the freezer

The defrost heaters have gone bad on this unit. Very common for GE refrigerators. You will need to turn unit off and remove the back panel on the lower section of the freezer. Very easy to get to. 2 screws at bottom and 2 at top by the light area. Remove these screws and then remove panel and set aside. Using a hair dryer start melting all ice from coils. Will take approximately 45 min. to a hour. The heater is at the bottom of the coils and should be part number 55x10101. replace this and you will be fine. By getting all the ice from the coils you buy yourself about 4 days with the unit set on mid range on both settings before you lose cooling again. replace the heater and you'll be good to go.

2 weeks ago the ice box was not cooling.. We turned off and back on and it worked fine except the bottom shelv in fridge was freezing items.. Now my freezer is not working.. tried the off and on and it...

Could be a defrost problem. When the coils get froze over it quits coling. Turning it off will temporarily defrost a portion of the coils and it works for awhile. Check behind the freezer wall for frost buildup. If it is, you will have to determine if the timer, heater or termination thermostat is the culprit.

Ice build-up on GE ZDW24A wine cooler cooling coil

Probably the thermostat is bad , you can bypass it by putting together the two wires from the thermostat and if the unit starts working ,replace the thermostat ;only do this if you havesome knowledge of electrical work and be very carefull.

MSD2656GEQ The coils on the freezer side ices up, then does not cool the refridgerator side

Hi, It's a common problem with no-frost refrigerators, you have a defrost problems, two scenarios. (1) hot air entering freezer/refrigerator, examples. hot summer days, regular openings, high room temperatures, hot foods and broken door gasket, leaving freezer/refrigerator doors slightly open overnight, could cause your evaporator (coils) to freeze/ice up. cases like this, unplug/disconnect your refrigerator, remove produce, clean and let it defrost, for an hour, make sure all ice melted. plug or reconnect your refrigerator let it work/ run empty for another hour, then put back your produce. sure it will work perfect for the next 3-4 days. (2) next type of defrost problem could be faulty defrost heater, defrost thermostat, you will have to open back panel on freezer side to check. check your defrost heaters, defrost thermostat and defrost timer, it's better to change defrost timer and defrost thermostat together, or change faulty ones independently. but before you change any parts, clean and defrost refrigerator first, could just be regular openings, hot days, etc. if after 3-4 days it started to ice up, then check following parts. defrost heater. defrost thermostat and defrost timer, let me know if icing occurs after 3-4 days then we can check those parts i suggested. remember to always disconnect/unplug your refrigerator, before attempting any repairs. good luck
