go to www.hp.com (HP bought out Compaq)
click on support
select drivers and downloads
enter presario C768TU in the text box hit the aroow and it searches.
select the laptop on the search results.
Then select your operating system .
This pulls up the available downlaods for your model. The manual may show up on the lower right of the screen in a box marked additional downloads. Click on manuals and find the user manual and any others you want. You will need a pdf reader such as adobe reader to view and print these. Download that at www.adobe.com

By exploring the links from that support page you will find updates to drivers or software that are handy to have so don;t forget to bookmark your page or register (free) at HP so it defaults to your models.

This model of Presario has an audio controller that supports the high definition audio. You need to have Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio installed on the computer before installing the audio driver. After the installation of above drivers install the following drivers
Conexant CX20549-12 High Definition Audio driver:

You need to download all the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP Windows version of the drivers you require.

If you are running Vista follow the link bellow, and choose the exact model for the drivers, but if you're running XP then you will need to follow the directions bellow.

You must do this in order to get the sound working on XP:

This model of Presario has an audio controller that supports

4. Click next. Then select "don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click next and then select "sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click next and then click have disk.
7. Click browse C:swsetupsp34200 folder and select the .inf file and click open and continue with the on screen instructions.

My laptop doesn't have audio drivers and it rejects each and every audio driver that i try to install. can you please help download and install a new audio driver
