WASHING MACHINE NOT RETAINING WATER

Make sure that
A. the drain hose is above the hight of the water level.
B. there is an "air gap" between the drain hose and the stand pipe as the water can "syphon"out.

While moving my samsung top washing machine, I think my drain hose pipe has moved down the water level. Now machine is not able to retain the water while washing/soaking. I need to pull the drain hose pipe...

Hi,

Although a few modern washing machines can operate with the drain pipe at any height, most machines will drain the water as soon as the drain pipe is placed below the machine water level.

The simplest solution for your problem would be to ask somebody with some handy man skills or hire a plumber to add a 2 inch PVC pipe to your drainage pipe which extends to a point behind your washing machine & then points upwards, making sure it is long enough to be at a higher point than your machines fullest water level.
This should be a relatively inexpensive alteration & will ensure that water does not drain unless the machine is on its drain cycle.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Best wishes,
Graeme

Where to locate drain plug so that I can put the washer in storage

Just lay the drain hose on the floor into a shallow pan. Gravity will drain it. Remove the water inlet hoses and then set the machine to warm wash--it should open the inlet solenoids which will allow the inlet water inside the machine to drain back out of the hose connectors. Once drained, turn the machine off. Hope this helps!

Washing machine model 110:23032102 is retaining

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=110.23032102&pathTaken=partSearch

and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

See the section for the basket and tub assembly's

I'd pull the cabinet in order to get to the hoses going to and from the pump first.

See the following:

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=131

I'd check the hoses for blockage, check the shaft from the motor to the pump and check inside the pump to make sure the inlet and outlet aren't blocked.

Machine does not retain the water to enable washing to take place

The drain hose needs to come up higher than the water level in the machine, unless it is one that does not have a pump.

Have water leaking out when washer is filling up. What could be the problem?

Hi,

It sounds like you have a leaking pump. The pump is easy to replace:
1 Use a shop vac and pull all the water out of the drain line. This will keep you from having to clean up about 1 gallon of water off of the floor.
2 Lift the front of the machine enough for you to get under and see.the pump just inside the front of the washer.
3 Lift the 2 retaining clips off of the pump. This will allow you to pull the pump off of the motor.
4 Remove the 2 clamps off of the hoses.
5 Install the new pump into the hoses, and reinstall the clamps.
6 With the retaining clips installed into the motor housing, install the pump.
7 Attach the retaining clips, and set the washer back on the ground.

You have now replaced the washer pump.

If you have any questions, let me know

God Bless

Leaks

to jim, you may want to check the water pump closer, sometimes the water pump will leak a little during a cycle and the water will leak somewhere on the floor, not necessarily near the water pump.
to the second post (guest), it sounds like you have a bad water valve. the valve is not closing properly and causing water to leak thru.
