Question about Philips 42PFL5332D 42 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

AT NIGHT, TV SWITCHES ON AUTOMATICALLY AND CHANGES FROM SIDE AV TO OTHER OPTIONS, I.E. PC / HD 1 ETC. LAST NIGHT TV SWITCHES ON, CHANGED TO HD1 AND TURN VOLUME AUTOMATICALLY TO 0. CAN'T GET VOLUME UP. WHEN I TOUCH VOLUME BUTTON ON REMOTE AND/OR TV, TV CHANGES FROM SIDE AV TO HD1 OR OTHER. HAVE PROBLEMS FOR 2 WEEKS THEN STOP, THEN STARTED AGAIN. SOMETIMES WHEN WATCHING TV, VOLUME SCREEN APPEARS ON TV SCREEN AND TURNS DOWN AUTOMATICALLY.

What you describe is almost impossible ..the only explaining is someone with a compatible remote control messing around with you ..so ...pay attention ..and after that if you are completely sure that this is out of case...Leave a comment and I will search for another possible cause ..

NO ONE IN THE VICINITY THAT CAN CONTROL MY TV. COULD YOU KINDLY ASSIST AGAIN. MY TV IS SITUATED 1-METRE FROM MY FISHTANK AND THE FISKTANK IS COVERED IN CASE OF CONDENSATION. DO YOU THINK IT MIGHT BE THE TANK? BOUGHT TV TWO YEARS AGO AND SAME PERIOD FOR FISH TANK. THANKS

The fish tank can not interfere with the tv signal ..cause the signal is a infra-red based and not radio or some other kind..so in this case it is an internal issue with the Tv .. or some strange settings in the preset area ..(like the setting for to start on a certain hour by itself )
try to get into the menu ..and look for factory default setting and engage them ..THis should reset the Tv to the factory settings and get rid of any strange settings that may be done on it ...and case these behavior..This can only be done from the Tv menu itself and not from the remote ..so ..just look in the main menu of the tv ..and you will find the factory settings ..engage and confirm with OK ..
If after that it is still doing the same ..than you should have it checked by a professional or if it is still in warranty ...change it ..cause it is defective ..

BY the way ..this kinda tv can be controlled not just by a remote ..but from a mobile phone ..with infrared and a program that transform it in a remote.....so ..it can be someone in the house that does not like your taste in TV programs ..

THANK YOU. I CHECKED THE FACTORY DEFAULT BUT VIA THE REMOTE. WILL FIND THE MANUAL AND TRY DO TO DIRECTLY FROM TV. HOPE I CAN FIND THE BUTTONS. THANK YOU. WILL KEEP YOU POSTED. CAN'T IMAGINE BEING DEFECTIVE, HAD TV FOR TWO YEARS WITHOUT PROBLEMS.

No picture just av1

If the cat sat on the remote, it is likely it changed the tv to AV1. Just find the AV button on the remote and press it again and again. It should cycle through the different AV channels your TV has - my TV has 6 AVs, 2 HDMI and a PC channel so if yours is anything like mine, you may need to press several time to get back to your Sky/freesat/virgin box. Alternatively, some HDMI connected kit just needs turning off and on. That then sends a signal to the TV which changes the TV automatically. For example, my Blu-ray player does that.
Experience - I have a cat that sits on my remote and does the same thing!!

Why does my Sony STR-K750P AV receiver automatically switch to Video 2?

Some models of systems will switch to a new source automatically if the source sees a new signal coming on. Try disconnecting the device on your Video 2 to see if this is the case.

I have seen the IC or component(s) in the switching circuits become defective and cause unpredictable or faulty operation. This can also be a fault condition you are seeing.

I have the system hooked up and it comes on but not o the tv screen do i need the hd cable to make it work it is a flat screen tv please let me know what to do i have playstation 2 already hooked up and...

Are you using the AV connector cable? If so look on your tv for an av channel. Best thing to do though is Try using a HDMI cable. Most tv's recognise when a HDMI cable is plugged in and the tv switches automatically to the HD channel.
Hope this helps.

Some HDMI cables for some reason aren't compatible with some AV equipment. If you can, I'd try a different brand of cable.

New Yamaha AV Receiver and Tannoy Speakers muffled weak bass only

Maybe some wire is faulty... Try to disconnect everything and connect each speaker one by one, first trying only radio tuner and then trying to connect the TV and other devices. Using that you can isolate the fault into the specific component/wire.

First tv kept tuning on in middle of night now its kepts tuning off while ur watching

I don't know what might have been making it turn on in the middle of the night. It it keeps turning off while you are watching, you might want to check if:
1) someone is accidentially hitting the SLEEP button on the remote. The TV will turn off automatically 30, 60 or 90 minutes after the sleep button is hit. It can also get hit if you set the remote between seat cushions on the couch and someone moves, etc.

2) Does the TV get enough ventilation to allow heat in the TV to circulate away from the set? Drapes, tight cabinet, etc. The temperature sensor may turn the TV off automatically to protect the TV.

3) Your power cord is not well plugged into the wall or you might have some issues with the wall outlet - expecially if it is an older home (before 1980). Any wiggle of the cord may cause it to disconnect for a very short time - the TV will shut off.

4) This Brand is only available through BEST BUY and this model has a 1-year warrentee. The manual says to call 1-888-BESTBUY for service.

Good luck.

Please rate me.

Screen dull & automatically goes into hybernate

The dim screen is going to be either the lcd or inverter. As far as constantly going into hibernation mode. go into power options and make sure where it says turn off monitor and turn off hard drive are set to never. If that doesn't work then that mean you might have a virus, trojan, etc on the computer.
