Question about LG DLE3777 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

The drum will try to rotate but stop immediately. It will repeat this over and over. Like there is to much resistance and the motor gives up after about 3 seconds.

The restriction is in the drum or the motor self. Try to rotate the drum manually when it stops to check for any restriction. The best and effective way to determine the location of the restriction is by removing the drive belt then turning the drum and the motor pulley manually. The motor's rotor is seizing when powered up if no restriction is found when the drum and the motor pulley are turned manually while the dryer is off. The only viable solution is replacing the motor if that is the case.

LG DLE5977W electric dryer hums when attempting to restart

This is usually the motor but not always. Remove the belt. Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing. Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.
If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor. If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers, pulley, rear bearing, then reassemble the dryer and try it again. If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor. Our gas LG dryer suddenly stopped working. The display works fine, however when turned on, the drum doesn't rotate, and makes a loud humming noise.

check for a motor start capacitor on the side of the drum motor, some use a start cap,if not then either the start relay on the end of the motor where the wires are is bad or the motor bearings are dried out and the motor is locked-up,usually this will trip the circuit breaker though, remove the drum belt and see how easily and how long the motor shaft rotates when spun by hand it should coast to a stop

Front loader washer machine not rotating.

Fisrt, see if you can rotate it by hand, BOTH directions. It should have some resistance. If you can spin it and when you stop pushing it will turn a full turn, your drum belt is too loose. If the belt is good and tight, it will spin less than one half rotation, there is probably something blocking one of the wheels that the drum rides on.

I have an older whirlpool dryer when you turn it on it hums but doesn't spin.

Three possibles here:

1) The motor is running but the belt is broken not allowing the drum to turn.

Try to turn the drum by hand and see if it rotates very freely and takes a while to stop. if so, your belt is broken. If it feels like there is a good deal of resistance on the drum and stops as soon as you let go, your belt is functional.

2) Something is stuck (probably in the blower wheel) not allowing the motor to start up. If as you attempted to rotate the drum in #1 above it did not turn at all, this and #3 below are possible.

You'll need to disassemble the unit to get to the blower wheel and verify it's clear.

3) Motor is bad (common with older well used dryers) and needs to be replaced. This may also cause the drum to be locked as above.

That's all I can think of that will cause the motor humming but not having the drum to spin.

Maytag neptune top load bearings seized in drum pulley , freed bearings and greased.now drum spins free but hard time to start turning is it possible motor trouble ?

I’m an owner not a repair person but I will pass on my FAV6800AW Clutch issue experience.

With an empty Wash Basket open the lid and with one finger (pinky) you should be able to rotate the wash basket with little rotational resistance. I’m not sure how else to describe normal Wash Basket CCW rotational resistance in the Spin direction of the system. In my eyes any more resistance than that would indicate some binding in the system. If the roller clutches were seized as you describe I would replace the clutch but lets discuss further.

How much CCW rotational resistance did you detect with the clutch out? Did you follow this post for the One-Way Roller clutch bearing clean up? In that post I discuss checking for CCW rotational resistance prior to removing the Clutch. Does your FAV6800AW use the upper Roller Clutch Bearing Ring as I show in this post? If so what condition was it in?

The Outer Tub bearings may be adding to the CCW rotational resistance (Leaking Tub Seal). You could remove the belt off the Clutch pulley the motor should spin freely by hand and I feel you will find that is not causing the increased CCW rotational resistance with the above check.

I would drop the clutch out again and check the Wash Basket CCW rotational resistance. That would give me a feel if the Outer Tub bearings are adding to the CCW rotational resistance. If the Wash Basket rotates CCW freely I would replace the clutch with the one I recommend in this post.

Post back if you have questions and maybe we can have another forum member speak to this issue. I could be over looking something in troubleshooting. Good Luck

Whirlpool Duet Washer drum won't rotate, can't rotate manually

How are ya? This is kind of technical information that i'm about to give you, so if you're not that technical then you should call a service technician to diagnose. Good luck and thanks for the inquiry :)

F25

DRIVE MOTOR TACHOMETER ERROR

If the control is unable to properly detect motor speed, the machine shuts down.
If a failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door unlocks after 3 Minutes.

Possible Causes/Procedure

1. Verify the shipping system including shipping bolts, spacers and the power cord are removed.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check drive motor tachometer resistance. It should be approx. 115 ohms.
4. Check wire harness connections between the drive motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU).
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor.
7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.

HI, this is an electric motor issue. its possible that it is windings failuer or , the hall sensor may be bad. It is recommend to cal for service in this case. the motor will need to be replaced.

**NOTE(((It is also possible that your issue will be a Motor Control Board issue as well. you can confirm the issue by manually rotating the drum. If the drum can be turned easily with very little resistance, this will confirm MCB failure. if there is considerible resistance when manually turning the drum, this will lead to the motor failure.))

Whirpool electric dryer: heat turns on but no rotation

Your problem could be as simple as a broken drive belt.. or an overtemp switch.... If you've never replaced the drive belt.. then that is in all probability your problem.. If you reach inside the dryer drum and try to rotate it.. does it offer any resistance like it is turning a motor pulley system or is it free to rotate with very little resistance ( would suggest the belt broke).. If the cost to repair exceeds the cost to replace then you'd be better off replacing.. However ..if it is just a drive belt.. then I would just replace that.. Hope that helps...

Dryer does not tumble, but heats up

Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time.

Click here for a belt installation diagram.

Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

  • Remove the belt.

  • Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.

  • Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

if this helps please vote me a fix ya
