USB devices are backwards compatible. It will connect at USB 2.0 speeds instead of 3.0. If your not planning on transferring huge amounts of data or transferring data constantly it probably won't make a big difference.

Hdd i/o firewire port won't work when connected with my hp probook laptop. do i have to install some drivers or firmware. when i use just hdd, things are just fine, evrything works fine. i need...

You cannot use the drive without external power, specially with the 4-pin firewire: there are some USB models that allow it (usually 2,5" drives), but you need 2 USB outlet oth the PC (one for the data and power, the second for power supply). About the compatibility you shouldn't have problems.

I need driver for imation apollo external HDD, where could i find free driver for this?

External Hard Drives generally do not need drivers. If the hard drive came with 2 usbs, then plug them both in. Your drive maay require more power to work properly. Again you may need two USB port to power it as 1 single USB does not carry that much power with it.

My comp cant recognize a storage device ET_2518A USB2.0. i need drivers! pls

It looks like your computer has incompatibility with external hdd you have.

try this:

download updated version of chipset and bios from dell support drivers and download page.

install the updates starts with chipset then followed by the bios.

after that try connecting a different ext device if fix then its just your other external device has issues.

if all fails then usb ports not compatible with your external device motherboard might to be replaced.

hope this helps.

I conect to my pc a new hp md1000h hdd but in my windows explorer only see: unit CD (O:) HP Loncher.exe, buno responding

Hi, your external hard drive features and automatic backup function, that is what the "launcher.exe" is for. If you don't need such a function, you go to Control Panel>Administration Tools>System Management and on the left you will find a "disk management" section. There you will find your hard drive information, and will be able to format and create partition on it, by doing so you will most likely be able to use it properly. If, instead, you need the automatic backup function of your hard drive, you can try starting the "launcher.exe" as administrator, and, if that does not work, you can contact HP support to ensure that your system is compatible with your hard drive's functions. Hope it helped, Franz

G'Day! I have a Transcend 2 GB USB stick. Whenever I connect it to my computer or any other computer, I get this error message ''THIS USB DEVICE CAN PERFORM FASTER IF YOU CONNNECT IT TO HIGH SPEED USB 2.0...

Yes. The problem is you don't have usb 2.0 ports on your motherboard. Its the second generation usb port. So if you want to upgrade you can buy additional hardware to upgrade this. But your motherboard has to be compatible with that additional peripheral too. As an example buses of your motherboard. So you have to check that also when you purchase. This is not a problem. The only thing is it will reduce the efficiency of your pen drive (Access time etc.). Other usb sticks you have may be usb 1.1 devices.

Computer freeze on saving files to USB 2.0 External Hard Drive (and USB2 flash drive)

Suggest you look at the motherboard book to check if or how many USB connections are in fact USB 2 compatible. Most modern Motherboards only have 2 USB 2.0 Compatible connections, most are 3.0 or 4.0 compatible. Hope this helps, Malcolm Campbell.
