We got the Acer aspire one a week ago, registered and got started. Everything was fine, then I went to get on it and there is a windows screen with a bar moving and it will not proceed to the desktop bar...

Sounds like your stuck on the Loading screen for the OS. If you bought it one week ago contact customer support or return it and get it fixed. You could easily do this by reinstalling the OS but you should have a professional do it since your waranty for a year should be up from the maker.

Shuts off by itself

sorry to hear that :( try this hope it works
  1. unlpug everything from the computer and leave only mouse, keyboard, monitor and power and restart the computer and try to shut it down if it works try this from preventing shutting down.
  2. start>right click on my computer properties>advanced>on startup and recovery click on setting>uncheck the automatic restart. once you do that try to shut the computer down if it works most issue are ether the printer connected to the computer usb like mous etc.. in that case you need to update the drivers for your computer

Boot failure at USBd checkpoint

There are 2 steps you can do to fix the problem

1. Change the USB Emulation Setting in the BIOS
NOTE: It is recommended to disconnect any USB devices before performing the following steps.
Restart the system.
Wait until the Dell Logo appears.
At the Dell Logo screen, press F2 right away to enter the System Setup.
The System Setup screen will appear.
Press the down arrow key to highlight Integrated Devices (LegacySelect Options).
Press Enter.
A small box with a list of devices appears in the middle of the screen.
Press the down arrow key to highlight USB Emulation.
The default setting is On.
Press the Space Bar on your keyboard to change the setting to No Boot.
Press the Esc key.
The small box disappears.
Press the Esc key again.
A small box with list of options appears in the middle of the screen.
Make sure that Save Changes and Exit is highlighted in blue.
Press Enter.
The system will then restart.
The recommended changes have now been made to the BIOS.

2. Reset the Dell Dimension desktop System Setup (BIOS) to factory defaults.
Restart the system.
The Dell logo screen appears.
Press F2 to enter the System Setup (BIOS).
The System Setup screen appears.
Press the ALT + F key combination.
Press the Esc key to Save and Exit.
Press Enter to Save changes and exit now.
The BIOS is now set to the default settings.

Disabled on board video

You have to be able to get in to the bios in order to do anything. Did you try another monitor or try to reset the current one? Is there power?, the only thing you can try if you can't even get into safe mode or bios, is to first clear the cmos, by either moving the jumper "near the battery", from the two pins to the middle and last open pin, or removing the battery, making sure the machine is unplugged, not just shut down. Wait 5-10 minutes and make sure the jumper is the way it was before you moved it, if you moved it. Then start her up, let us know what happened, that should reset everything back to default .

My new acer works fine but there is something loading in the middle of the screen and i cant get rid of it .... how ?

these are system set up routines, when you first boot up Acer laptops they configure themselves, then reboot about 4 times, to load all the drivers and pre installed software, but if its taking too long (hours) then you need to speak to Acer technical, see below for tel no.s
