By using the VGA output with a projector and having it show up clearly and as expected is a sign that the video card/GPU is working properly.
Furthermore, the symptom that you explain of a rolling screen I interpret as meaning that you can see the image that is meant to be displayed, but it keeps moving from the bottom of the screen to the top and rotating. IF this is correct it sounds like DA converter on the LCD is your culprit. It is the chip that is in charge of interpreting the signal coming from the GPU and sending it to the LCD elements at the prescribed refresh rate (generally 60 hertz). The rolling image is an indication of the refresh rate not being met by the LCD.
Things to check:
1) While plugged into the projector, open the Windows Control Panel then the Display Icon. Go to the Settings Tab.
2) If the Display settings show 2 output displays, ensure the built-in LCD is the one clicked on in the graphic then click the Advanced Settings button/link.
3) Once that window appears go to the Monitor Tab and set the option to the lowest numbered option. Generally this will be 60 or lower. Then press OK. The screen will flicker and HOPEFULLY you will get a clear/non-rotating LCD display. If not, I'd venture that the LCD itself has gone bad again. Perhaps there is a root cause such as a powering issue that is providing too many amps to the LCD but that would take some hefty investigation to resolve the power that is supposed to be provided and a multimeter to figure out the actual voltage/amperage.
Hope this helps!

Hdmi not detected by HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx Entertainment Notebook PC

You may want to check your dispaly properties to make sure that your display is set to HDMI instead of laptop display in the control panel under display properties. On many laptops, this can be done by pressing the "fn" key and a key with a blue symbol of two screens on it. This toggles between your primary display and external ones.

My hp pavilion 513n has completely stopped working! I need help!

Start the computer, and keep pressing F8 until you get a "boot" menu -- white text on a black screen.
Select "safe mode with command-line", and see if Windows will start.
If it does, enter 'CHKDSK C: /F' to get Windows to check the integrity of the file-system.

Then, find a friend with a genuine Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM. Boot from that disk, and choose "repair", and see if the boot-process can "repair" your installed copy.

I have an HP Pavilion zt1135 that hasn't been used in about 3 years. I turned it on this morning and it powered up fine. I updated the windows today and after reboot it just keeps recycling trying to...

Welcome to the world of microosft updates. You need to go into recovery mode. Just after the Bios/CMOS screen passed basically just after the HP logo disappears, start to press rapidly the F8 key. A menu will appear. Choose boot from last good configuration. That should solve it. I would recommend that you only take updates from a roll up pack or service pack. That normally stops the problems

THanks

Error # 0x0000c1F5 It wont start windows, or even recover with recovery disk. Just blue screen with this message says possibly hardware or software problem.

ok, step one:
get a bootable CD (acts like a running backup boot), and put it in. your computer should boot up ok (NOTE* if it gives you the option to start in safe mode, don't. that will prevent the next step. start windows normally).
step two:
once it is up and running, eject the boot CD and get your recovery CDs/DVDs. insert them and follow the instructions. with everything recovered, it should work fine.
step three (optional)
attempt to create a new set of recovery CDs/DVDs.

No audio from HDMI on HP Pavillion DV9700

If you are not getting any audio through the laptop without the hdmi cable check that the volume control has not been turned down on either the laptop or on the windows volume control icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. Sometimes the easy solutions are the hardest to find.

For solving blue screen error

HP Notebook PCs - "Windows Unsafe or Sudden Shutdown" Blue Screen Error Occurs During Startup or Boot

Description
Windows XP may not start and the following error message may appear on a blue screen:
Windows Unsafe or Sudden Shutdown
This error occurs after Windows was not shutdown using a safe method. The notebook may have been turned off without clicking Shut Down or briefly pressing the computers Power button. The power may have been suddenly disconnected from the computer or the Power button may have been held for more than 5 seconds.
An unsafe shutdown can damage some of the Windows system files, preventing the computer from starting properly.
Solution
If the error occurs allow the operating system to complete a check of the hard disk. Windows will prompt your to run CHKDSK. CHKDSK scans the hard drive for damaged files and repairs the files if necessary. The scan may take up to an hour depending on the size of the hard drive and the number of damaged files. The computer will restart when the scan is complete and Windows should start normally.
If Windows will not start or the computer will not boot after the scan is complete see: HP Notebook PCs - Troubleshooting a Startup or No Boot Problem (In English)
