Dear,
if u really want to do this, then go to control panel--->add/remove, then select if it exists here Remove.
if u don't find it there then it will surely exist to programe files. here u have to select the icon containg the name norton antivirus 2009, and see there will be Uninstall , select it and uninstall it finally.
also remove the remaing folders/files in that Norton antivirus 2009 folder because sometimes it happens that the software doesnt remove completly. u have to manually remove/delete the remaining files...

regards,

Use this antimalaware software, here is download from PCworld:
Spybot Search & Destroy | Anti-spyware Tools Download | PC World

It should work on the spy, remove spybot antispyware after cleaning, as will double up with Mcafee.
Spybot is genuine software, is more powerful than Mcafee on spyware, as normal antivirus have limitations on spyware.

Do not install any software that you do not know as genuine.

HI,
This is a virus and the best way to get the virus out is reformat the system. We have tried removing this virus by using different tools , but it tends to come back. This virus goes into some kind of hiding mode when u delete a couple of its enteries from various part of the system and then regenrates to infect the system again.
I would suggest backup you stuff and clean install windows

Thanks

Try finding these files from the system and deleting them.Caution removing files from the system without backing up imprtant stuff can be risky.

    av2009.exe
    av2009install.exe
    av2009install_0011.exe
    av2009[1].exe
    Antivirus2009.exe
    ieupdates.exe
    scui.cpl
    %program_files%\antivirus 2009\av2009.exe
    %startmenu%\antivirus 2009\antivirus 2009.lnk
    %startmenu%\antivirus 2009\uninstall antivirus 2009.lnk
    winsrc.dll
    %desktopdirectory%\antivirus 2009.lnk
    winsrc.dll
    ieupdates.exe
    av2009install_0011.exe
    av2009install.exe
    %program_files%\antivirus 2009\av2009.exe

How to find the above files :

    1. From Start –> Search, then click on “For Files and Folders…
    2. From “What do you want to search for?” list on the left, click on “All files and folders

    3. Type the filenames on the search box, and choose the “Local Hard Drives” (normally, it’s C: drive)

    4. Click on “Search“. That’s it!

    Hi,

As suggested earlier the best step forward would be to redo the operating system. Please donot buy all these thrid party anti- spyware programs . You would end up spending more money on the system and there is no gurantee from these programs that they would remove the virus from the system. There is no solution to the Antivirus 2009 virus that has infected your system.

I would suggest back up your crtical information and refromat the system. In case you find it difficult to do it yourself you can take the system to nearest best buy store and they can do it for you for a charge , ie backup and reinstall windows

    Thanks

  • Mark Gil
    Mark Gil Aug 02, 2008

    You can also try this

  • To open the Windows Task Manager, use the combination of CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.

  • Click on the "Image Name" button to search for "Antivirus 2009" process by name.

  • Select the "Antivirus 2009" process and click on the "End Process" button to kill it.

  • Remove the "Antivirus 2009" processes files:

  • That should also remove it......

Antivirus 2009 is a virus and the fastest way to remove it would be to format the system over. However, if your lucky enough to have it in your ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS list, then remove it before it really gets messy. I just finished trying to clean this one and ended up reformatting the system. Now, if you need to do that, and your a bit technically incline, backup your profile located under C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\%accountname%
    Please remove Antivirus 2009 As - de3bf73.jpg
In the pictured example, OWNER is the primary account. Copy this to an external as this holds all your settings and documents and pictures provided you saved everything as a default to MY DOCUMENTS.

    McAfee can't remove this virus.

I'm sorry if I was a bit technical. You will need to reformat your drive. Talk to a friend who can save your work. I wish I could be of further assistance. This is a virus that I spent 2 full days on and I can't charge that to the client. Best solution is to format the drive over which is what I just finished doing and restoring the client data.

I too went through numerous sites and tried numerous solutions. I never found ANTIVIRUS 2009 in my startup or ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS which I indicated may not be there. I've removed winsrv.exe winsrv.dll which were two files that were part of the problem. Norton kept finding this in the temp folders under the user account but unable to delete it. I've tried through safe mode with no luck. I've run AD-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, tried HiJackThis, and CWShredder. I've taken all the advice from around the globe on this one and found it easier to reformat the drive.

You will be bombarded with virus issues, claims of virus activity, pop ups galore, and it won't be from just Antivirus 2009. You'll get them from ANTIVIRUS MASTER, ANTIVIRUS 2009, your search engine will launch under the heading HTTP:\\SEARCH.... Check any site with ANTIVIURS 2009 and everyone will tell you it's a virus.

Again, talk to a friend who may be able to save your data. I would recommend taking out the drive and inserting it into a USB removeable and try scanning it that way in a clean system to see if that would solve your issue.

If someone who's actually removed it can post, I'd certainly like to know where it was hiding.
