No special button on any printer I know of.

Are you opening the printer with the power ON? It has to be on for the cartridges to move to the center.

What make and model is the printer?

Thanks for using Fixya.

How to replace catridges for Epson Stylus Office T40W??

Good day. I hope this steps can help you in replacing your cartridges. This how i remember doing it. Just follow these steps.

>Make sure the power light is on, but not flashing.
>Open the printer cover and the output tray.
>Press the ink button. The ink cartridge holder moves to the ink cartridge check position and the
power light begins to flash.
>Press the ink button again. If more than one ink cartridge is expended or low, the ink cartridge holder moves to the mark. This
occurs each time you press the ink button until all expended or low ink cartridges have been
indicated. Once all of the expended or low ink cartridges have been indicated, the ink cartridge
moves to the ink cartridge replacement position when you press the ink button. >Open the cartridge cover and place the ink cartridge into the cartridge holder with the bottom down.
Then push down the ink cartridge until it clicks into place. Then close the cartridge cover
>Press the ink button and then the printer moves the ink cartridge holder and begins charging the
ink delivery system

Hope this will help you a bit with your ink cartridge replacement problem. Have a great day.

Can't get cartidge holder to stop in right place to insert new cartridge

If yours is an Epson printer, push the cartridge change button on the front panel twice. The ink carriage will retreat to the extreme right hand side. When you have loaded the new cartridge (s) push the same button twice. After a while the carriage will prime the new cartridge, the green light will come on and you may print. Other printers: For HP, open the lid with the power on. If all else fails,m I pull the plug. manually move the carriage, change the cartridge and re-power. Always try pushing the cartridge change button on the front panel first, however.

How do I install the ink cartridge

You will find two buttons on your printer.

One for power and the another is a function button.

Push them together at the same time while the printer is on.
In most cases this will move the ink head to the center on the machine in order for you to remove the old ink cartridges and install the new ones. However a different button may need to be used consult the manual in this regard.

The ink cartridges are clipped in, you will need to undo the clip!
Then pull the ink cartridge out, usually upward force applies.

Now once the old cartridges are removed you can install the new cartridges.

Be sure to remove any stickers that are meant to be removed, read the sticker and if it says "remove before use" then remove it.

Insert the cartridge and push them down, then the clip is to be clipped in.

Now to get the ink head to move back to it's lair first try pushing the function button.
If nothing happens then push both buttons together again.

Please read this session a number of times to get the jist of what needs to be done.

Also I would like to ask you to please rate this session with the use of the Thumbs on the right.

Thanking you very much.
Till next time!

How do u change ink cart

The process of changing ink cartridges varies slightly by the make and model of your printer. Open the cover to the area where your cartridges are installed while your printer is turned on. If opening the cover automatically prompts the inks cartridges to move and center in a position where they are accessible, then all you have to do is remove and reinstall new ones. If the cartridges do not automatically move and center themselves where they can be changed, then your printer requires an additional command that you do manually to make this happen. Some printers require the user to push the power button down and hold it for 10 seconds to have the machine move and center the cartridges in a position that can be reached easily by your fingers. Some even have an extra button to push that has a little picture of an ink drop next to it which brings the cartridges forward for replacement. If you cannot reach the cartridges easily, or opening the cover does not automatically move and center them then check your manual for the procedure or repost your question inlcuding the make and model number so that we can locate this information for you.

Lets move forward.

Once the cartridges are in an area that is easily reachable, the next step is to eject the cartridge which needs to be changed. This procedure can also vary by make and model. Look at your cartridges and check for a plastic ejection lever in front that can be pushed down by a finger tip. If you see one, push downward and see if the cartridges is ejected outward towards you. If it is ejected, then replace with new cartridge and push downward to lock it into place and your done. If there is no plastic ejection lever in front of the carriage which holds your cartridges, then place one finger on top of the cartridge you wish to remove and push downward slightly and pull it towards you until it unlocks and releases it. Then remove and replace and push down and forward to lock the new one by into place and your done.

I can give you specific instructions pertaining to your make and model printer if you supply this information on the website. Good luck!

How to remove ink cartridge for hp 4150 printer?

Hi there
step #0
Allow your inkjet printer to run entirely out of ink. Unless the quality of your images is suffering, there is no problem with letting your ink run low.
Step #12Open the printer door. It should fold from the top down toward the tray. When it is open, it should expose the inner workings of the printer. Step #23Press the change cartridge button. It is at the top of the printer next to the power button. Step #34Pull on the green top of the inkjet ink cartridge and remove it up and out of its holder. Do this gently so the printer is not damaged in the process. Step#45#4Recycle the empty inkjet cartridge or have it refilled at an ink refilling center. Step #56Carefully remove the tape from the refilled or new inkjet ink cartridge and insert the cartridge in the same orientation as the one you removed. Step #67Push on the green top until the cartridge snaps into place, press the cartridge change button and close the printer door. thanks Hamedo

Epson stylus cx4200 all-in-one?

1. Make sure the printer is turned on.
2. Make sure the document cover is closed, then closed, then open the scanner.
(Do not open the scanner when the document cover is open).
3. Press and release the ink button. The 'On' and 'Ink' lights flash.
If one of the cartridges is low or empty the printer moves that cartridge to the 'ink out' mark. Go to step 4.
If no cartridges are low or empty the ink cartridge holder moves to the ink replacement position. Go to step 5.
4. Pree the 'ink' button again.
If more than one cartridge is empty or low the next cartridge moves to the 'ink out' mark.
Once the printer identifies all the empty or low ink cartridges the print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position.
5. Open the cartridge cover, squeeze the tab at the back of the empty cartridge and lift it out.
6. Before you open the new cartridge package shake it four or five times and remove it from the package .
(Don't remove or tear the label on the cartridge otherwise ink will leak out) .
(Don't touch the green chip on the front of the ink cartridge - you could damage the cartridge).
7. Place the new ink cartridge into the cartridge holder and push it down till it clicks into place.
8. Replace any other cartridges that need replacing.
9. Close the ink cartridge cover and press it until it clicks into place.
10. Close the scanner.
11. Press the 'ink' button. The printer starts charging ink and the 'on' light starts flashing . This takes about a minute . When it's finished the 'on' light stops flashing and remains on and the 'ink' light goes out.
