Question about DISH Network IR Remote Control

Dish program guide

I disconnected everything and unplugged TV and satellite box.  When I reconnected the only thing that doesn't work is the program guide.  It says it is searching but nothing comes up it just keeps searching.

This is a problem dish network is aware of and trying to fix, 311 receiver??

Just updated my Sony tv and it says unfortunately, program guide has stopped. What can I do. I tried to restart the tv with the power button and it didn't work.


Pull the wall plug and count to 10 and plug it back in. The program guide actually comes from your cable supplier or satellite dish provider or your TV over telephone internet supplier, so chop the power to that box as well. That forces the operating systems to load and reset.

The power button merely puts the set into standby, basically, just turns off the picture. You need a full disconnect.

I have finally got my box connected, but it is saying the TV signal is weak or lost. the tv works fine on its own


The answer would be to go satellite , like dish, because they are the most reliable

How do I reconnect my dish network receiver cables from satellite dish back up correctly all are outside cables?


Typically there will be a single line of Coax (TV Cable) running from your dish to your receiver. There will be a connection on the back of your receiver with a little picture of a dish. It might also be labeled LNBF or LNB. Make sure the power to your receiver is unplugged before connecting it. If you have more than one cable coming from the dish, or I've misunderstood, you may need to provide more information such as what cables, and what model of reciever.

It says no info on the programs I want to record and won't record them. The guide also shows no info in those areas.

Make sure the receiver is powered off each night so it can receive updates through the satellite to the guide.

You can force a guide download by unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, you can run a check switch test from Menu > System Setup > Installation > Point Dish > Check Switch > Test. Let it finish, then exit out of the menu and let it acquire signal and download the guide.

I have Dish 322 receiver. Everything was fine; a week or so ago satellite 119 reception was spotty, now we can't get 119 at all. We get 110 but only about 34%. Sometimes the receiver will power itself off...

It looks like you have lost the signal for the 119 satellite from your dish. Are you getting an error message, either 002 or 015, saying the satellite signal has been lost or acquiring satellite signal? First, check the cables on the back of the receiver to make sure they are secure. You can also run a check switch test to see if there is a problem between your dish and receiver.

Press the Menu button on your remote. This will bring up the Main Menu on your TV screen. Input the numbers: 6 (System Setup), 1 (Installation), and 1 (Point Dish). On the right side of the Point Dish screen are 3 buttons. Select the Check Switch button. Within the 2 large boxes are satellite numbers and green or red boxes. Make a note of the satellite numbers (should be 119, 110), the trans, the device, and switch. Super dish and alternate should not be checked. Select the Test button on the bottom of the screen. If a box pops up with a warning about TV 2, select Yes. It will now run the check switch test. Let it complete the test. After completion, the screen will automatically go back to the Installation Summary screen. You may get a message stating that the Check Switch test has found fewer satellites than previously detected. If you get this message cancel out of each screen (do not save the results) till you are back to the TV screen and it is acquiring Satellite signal.

If you don't get that error message, see if the information on the Installation Summary has changed. Then select Done on the next 2 screens and cancel out of the others till you get the message, Acquiring Satellite Signal. After it finishes acquiring satellite signal and downloads the program guide, see if you are getting a picture - try different channels. I disconnected my dish network reciever for 2 months and now that i connected it again i have no signal, and in dish network they tell me my account is perfect

You will want to make surethe TV is set to channel three unless you are running through an input of theTV. The next thing you will want to do is unplug the receiver for 10 secondsand it will power up by itself and acquire the signal and download the programguide, after the guide downloads you will get your programming. I have a dish network echostar remote control (20.0 IR). When I press any button that normally controls the satellite box, nothing happens except the green "sat" button on the top left lights...


Unplug the satelite box and replug it back like about an hour later.By letting the box resetting and upgrading it softwares the remote should work again now.

Sky is saying there is no signal. Turn box off and on again. I have done this but still get no signal. I have freeview only channels on my sky box


Hi,

Firstly, you don't get Freeview through your Sky box. If you are watching Freeview channels then it's from an aerial connection. If you are getting a 'No signal' message on your TV, the first things to check are:

1. Check that you have selected the correct input source on your TV. If you are using a 'co-ax' connection (standard aerial cable) you will have to select this manually from the remote. If you are using a SCART connection, all you need to do is turn the Sky box off and back on - but you've done this already.
2. Check the connection from your Sky box to your TV - disconnect it, check that the cable and connectors aren't damaged then re-connect it.
3. Check the cable between the dish and the Sky box. Unplug this from the Sky box and reconnect it.
4. Check that your viewing card is correctly inserted. This is unlikely to be the problem as it doesn't usually result in a 'no signal' message, but remove it and re-insert it anyway.

Finally, it's very windy tonight and this can affect the Sky signal if your Sky dish isn't properly secured. It's possible that your dish has been moved by the wind and is no longer aligned with the satellite. If none of the above work, you should inspect the dish as soon as conditions are safe enough to do so. If you can move it by hand, it can probably be moved by the wind.

Try these tests and post back and I will try to assist further if the problem has not been resolved.

Have Direct TV using a Sony Digital Satellite receiver model #SAT B2-2 /Sony Satellite dish purchased in 7/97. I get local channels thru Direct TV. Recently, local channels will show on the Direct TV guide...


Your dish is out of alignment. The local channel satellite doesn't have as strong of a signal, so a slight misalignment will cause problems.

It could also be an F-connector needs to be replaced at the dish or multiswitch (if you have one). Sometimes moisture builds up inside the connector and corrodes the copper stinger inside.

If you go into your satellite signal strength menu and find the local channel satellite, you're sure to see either a weak signal or an intermittent one.

One more thing, if a tree has grown in the line of sight between the dish and the satellite, this will cause signal problems too. In this case, you either have to trim the tree or move the dish.

Try unplugging the Dish box for a minute, then plug back in, is the program guide blippy?
