My bluetooth for ps3 keeps blinking green and red. When it's on i cant hear anything. Also, if i press the on/off button without holding it it just turns off and does the same for turning on. It's not in bluetooth discovery mode because i already tried turning it off and turning it on properly.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, SOME HEADSETS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH PS3. I HAD SOME PROBLEMS WITH MY PLANTRONICS 3XXX. I FOUND THE SOLUTION WAS THAT I WASN''T HOLDING DOWN THE BIG BUTTON ON THE FRONT LONG ENOUGH. WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE BUTTON, WHILE PS3 SEARCHED, I WOULD ACCIDENTALLY TURN OFF THE BLUETOOTH.
BE SURE THE BLUETOOTH IS POWERED ON. ONE TAP SHOULD DO.
WHEN PS3 BEGINS TO SEARCH, HOLD DOWN BIG BUTTON, AND DO NOT RELEASE UNTIL PS3 FINDS.
IF THERE IS A LIGHT ON THE BLUETOOTH, IT WILL PROBABLY BLINK A COUPLE TIMES WHEN FOUND. THE NAME OF THE BLUETOOTH WILL ALSO SHOW ON THE TV.
OH YEA, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR PS3 SETTINGS.MAKE SURE IT IS SET TO ACCEPT BLUETOOTH HEADSET CONNECTION.
You have the dreadful blinking red light of death. Long story short the system is broken due to overheating and heat damage to the motherboard and you have a few options:
send the system to sony and receive a refurbished system for $150.
find a local to do it for much cheaper
watch vids on the web (youtube.com) and fix it yourself but it is fairly difficult.
buy a new ps3.
I hope I have helped and feel free to ask me any questions and let me know how it goes.
How to connect the Bluetooth device to the computer
loadTOCNode(3, 'moreinformation');
Press and hold the Connect
button on the bottom of the mouse. If your device has a battery
indication light, it will blink and alternate between red and green to
indicate that the device is discoverable.
On the computer, open the Bluetooth software. The Bluetooth
software is typically located in Control Panel. For more information
about opening the Bluetooth software, see the "How to open the
Bluetooth software" section.
Click the Devices tab, and then click Add.
Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Your headset powers on muted and inactive by default. After it powers on, hit the power button once, dont hold it, just press it. you'll hear 2 beeps then a higher tone. Your headset is now active.
You need to "pair" the headset to the PS3. Follow the instructions for your headset (usually holding down the power button until you get a SOLID blue light) then go to Settings>Accesory Settings>Register BlueTooth Device>Scan. When you're done, you need to set your input device to your Headset model #, which should now appear.
