Question about GE Energy Star WCVH6260F Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I have a GE front load washer. I have had to check the filter in the bottom of the washer many times since I have had it. It has stopped draining again and when it is trying to pump we noticed that the impeller acted as if something were stopping it from moving. If you used your finger in you could turn the impeller and it would take off and drain. We removed the pump and took it apart fully expecting to find some type of foreign matter blocking the impeller ( string, lint???) but there is nothing blocking it from moving. The small plastic impeller can be moved, seems to move pretty freely. Hate to put it all back together to find the same problem, any suggestions? All help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know how to get into the motor to replace brushes and or bearing. My husband is usually very handy at these things but some information on removing the case etc would be helpful since I am not really finding this pump online on the appliance parts web sites that I have found.

This is the sign of a pump failure, the brushes in the pump motor are getting weak and this makes it hard to start the pump. Once you spin it it will take off because it had the impeller loosend before starting. I would say at the least you have bad brushes and maybe a bearing in the pump trying to seize on you. I would get a pump motor and keep it handy!

Since the manufactures always switch motors and suppliers I am not sure about cracking the case, some are made to be repaired and some are not. If you have an electrical supply shop in your area, you might just take the motor in and let them compare it to others or see if there are even parts available, they may have a substitute for your motor.

My ge wcvh6400joww has stopped working. when put into a cycle, it does all of the test stuff locking and unlocking the door etc. then just sits there with the motor runnung..any suggestions?

I am having the same issue. I have cleaned out the filter and had the pump replaced once already. I have been checking the drain/filter every time I use the washer and quite a bit of water comes out (nothing in the filter), often very soapy and if I let it stand overnight very stinky. I can get my finger into the pump and it does not appear to be frozen.

Machine keeps stopping

Hi there,
Had the same problem and thought that it was electronic driven. It seems that "rebooting" the washer solved it (as in unplugging for 30sec then plugging back). Investigating a smell issue I just found out about the filter located behind the bottom front panel (3 screws to remove at bottom of panel). The trap was full of stuff (as in really bad). I suspect that it prevented the machine from draining fully/properly/timely and messed the programs up causing the machine to stop. You might have a similar problem...
Good luck

Where?s the filter on my GE WSXH208A Front Loader? Thank you beltronic205 (GE WSXH208A Front Loader won?t drain). I drained the tub by lowering the drain hose as suggested. But where is the filter, what...

There is no acutal filter on this unit...You cab remove the back panel to access the drain pump ...Or tilt the washer back and access it from the bottom...Remove the drain hose from tub to drain pump...(careful of flow of water from tub)...Check the hose for any blockage...If no blockage then your pump is bad..

I see this is an old post, but if someelse has this problem I hope this helps. I had this same problem.
My GE front load washer (GBVH6260) has a filter located behind the front cover below the door. My manual makes no mention of this filter no is it obvious. Remove the three screws located at the bottom of the cover below the washer door, and remove the cover. You will see a what looks like a knob. This is the filter. Be sure to place a pan under it as best you can. If your washer is holding water be prepared you could get over a gallon, have some towels ready. Unscrew the filter and slide it out, it slides in the same way.
