First confirmed if the symptom didn't appear in video mode.

Yes (same problem) - the above solution will solve the problem.

No (good picture) - fault is the signal reception, , make sure that the signal is strong from your cable service provider. Ensure all connection from the cable box.

Sounds like it's on the wrong input, maybe it's analog tuner. Have you tried changing it's input?

Have a LG 60' Plasma TV that has good sound, you can change channels, but on the screen the picture is sort of scrambled, has alot of speckles, and the screen is red. You can see the picture in the back ground...

this sounds like a y sustain problem most of the time the z sustain should be replaced at the same time and even if not i would advice it because one will be stronger than the other affecting the picture this is a common problem with plasma tvs but you are very lucky and your tvs part is not expensive unlike most tvs your required part is only 45 pounds but as i said you will need the z sustain also so 90 pounds in total if you would like the part visit the link provided below and if you have any more questions please dont hesitate in asking and also if you are not confident with my answer for any reason rest assured your parts are returnable as long as you say the part was not suited for your application

but i can give you a 100% answer this is the problem

this part is not hard to fit it is just the case of taking the back off and you will see the part the same as the one you have just unscrew it and unplug and just repeat the process in reverse for fitting the part

I'm connected to a dish network receiver and the picture was good until my son tried to plug in his playstation 2. Now everything is back to the way it was originally installed except there is a scrambled...

Hey there. You want to make sure that the cables are tight on the back of the receiver and also that the tv is on the correct channel or input. Sometimes, if the tv is on the wrong input, you can get the picture, but it will look scrambled. So if you are in the room with the receiver box, you want to make sure that the tv is on channel 3 or 4, and sometimes on an input like Video 1 or 2. If on the secondary tv, you will want to make sure that the tv is on channel 60 or 73. I hope that this helps. You can follow this link below if you need more clarification.

White speckles on the plasma screen, initially very bad but tend to fade after tv is on for a while

This sounds like mal-discharge, where the refreshing of the picture content is leaving a trail. Contact your LG dealer as a software issue can remedy this which needs to be done by a service engineer.

42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Hi , I recently had the same problem which I was determined to fix . So I did a few weeks of research to find that it was the Y SUS board which burns out. I'm sure you realized that the TV gets hot. Personally I think this is why. circuit boards don't like heat and I've learned that the cooling fans are a joke. I replaced the board and got my picture back. I proved the fan theory because after the screen started to act up. I placed a cooling fan near the vent holes on top and the problem cleared right up,It also helps if you lower the brightness which helps out on the heat situation.I will soon be adding a fan with a temp. sensor. This shoud help if your screen has lines when you initially turn the cool TV on.then I have Some other costless solutions. Hope this helped these are great TV's and like our cars we maintain them not throw them away..................................Mr Wiseman

Lg42px52 speckling.

The speckling is caused by the CTRL board. The firmware needs to be updated. Unfortunately LG does not provide a media slot for downloaded upgrades. You must order an install the factory updated CTRL board located between the power and the Y sustain boards.
