Question about liftmaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Transmitter 300MC

1 Answer

Liftmaster Formula One. Garage door will open and close, only if I give a little manual help, and even then the trolley runs very rough. When the door is disconnected from the trolley, the trolley and chain will not move when I press the opener button. The motor will only click a few times.

Sounds like the gears are stripped.

Open the housing and see if there are white plastic shavings inside.

If so

You can get a gear kit and fix it yourself $ 35 - $50

Or for around $ 125.00 get a pro to fix the problem and lube, adjust, service the door and opener.

You pretty much have to take the unit apart all the way - it's not a simple project but it is doable for a diyer with reasonable skills 1-2 hours.

Follow the instructions step by step and don't cheat by leaving the gear thats hard to get to. The wear pattern on it will chew up your new gear in a few months and you will be doing it all over again.

Hope this helps

Is the door stuck in the open position? If so the trolley is probably jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Loosen the chain enough to free the trolley and then run the opener until the door is closed. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 complete turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain.

Garage door opener wont switch from manual to electric again

I think what you mean is you pulled the rope to open and close the door manually and now you can't get the two halves of the trolley to reconnect.
If so, pull straight down on the rope and release. Then run the door so the two halves of the trolley connect. You may have to do that last step manually. If this isn't your problem post back.

My Liftmaster GDO makes a clicking sound and won't open

See if the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. If so remove the bolt and then run the opener until the door is closed. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' control which is on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 complete turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Remember to replace the bolt.

Door can be opened manually when the trolley has

You can adjust the length of the arm between the trolley and door so that it is in a vertical position when the door is closed. This will prevent your problem.

Garage door opener (chain) motor runs in reverse. Trolley slides forward trying to close door, even though it is closed, instead of sliding toward motor to open door. Happened out of the blue - was

Loosen the chain enough that you can remove it from the sprocket. Run the opener until the sprocket turns counterclockwise and stops. With the door in the open position replace the chain. You will probably need to adjust your open and close limits per your owners manual.

My Liftmaster garage opener won't go up, only down. It's not bound mechanically. I just replaced the shaft assembly because the old one broke. But since I've done that the garage only goes down, it won't...

BE SURE YOU HAVE THE CHAIN/BELT INSTALLED PROPERLY.
IF THE DRIVE IS AT OR NEAR THE UP LIMIT SWITCH THE DOOR CAN'T GO UP.
LOOSEN & REMOVE THE CHAIN/BELT.
TRY RUNNING THE OPENER TO BOTH LIMITS - JUST TO SEE IF IT WORKS.
RUN THE OPENER TO THE DOWN LIMIT.
MOVE THE TROLLEY TO THE CLOSED POSITION - RECONNECT CHAIN/BELT.
HOPE THIS HELPS
