Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a Dell Inspiron Mini and recently I tried turning it on and it went straight to the Blue Screen of Death with the error text code: 'UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME', I have Googled everything about the problem and ever site tells me to either re-install Windows XP or download something over the internet. But, my computer didn't come with a CD Rom device and I don't plan on buying an external one. Plus the Blue Screen will not load Windows so I can't use the internet. Please help!

9 / 10 times that message appears when your hard drive has crashed.

If I were you I would find a 1gb or larger usb flash drive and download and install ubuntu to the flash drive, boot it, then check to see if I could access the hard drive.

If you can't then your hard drive has for sure crashed and will need to be swapped out.

Ok, my dell inspiron mini will turn on, but after it does the dell thing in the begining, the screen just goes blue.

This happens because you might have installed some new software and hardware on your system.

Reboot your system and start typing F8 key
Check by selecting last known good configuration
If this does not work then boot the system in safe mode and try system restore and restore your system to backdate when it was working good.
You can also try removing some recently installed software or remove recent windows update.

Whats problem t he blue scree

Blue screen or BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) may be caused because of several reasons: recent hardware/software change, virus, memory card, conflict etc. When blue screen occurs it gives some STOP codes (e.g.,0x0000007E) which give us an idea what may be the reason behind it.

Blue screen with dell logo??

This is usually called the "Blue Screen of Death" and the system tries to dump memory

See if you can Read any of the text which may detail the error

Try starting it in safe mode by tapping F8 every few seconds during startup

If it starts post back and i'll tell you how to use system restore

If it still fails then call in an Engineer

that is a memory dump, try to remember what hardware or software did you install or uninstalled recently, if you can log-in on windows try uninstalling or reinstalling the hardware or the software. if it fails, run the windows recovery on the cd and repair the windows installation.
