Hi, if the set is shutting down it should blink a code. Try pushing in the menu and input buttons on the set both at the same time and hold them in for 8 seconds to see if the self diagnosis will falsh a two digit code. Let me know what happens.

Ok yours is a 12 code means the TV is not shutting down for protective purposes. You will no doubt need a service manual to check the power supplies as its probably something real minor in the start up or stand by voltages that is preventing the set from starting. I have a link where you can get the service manual and they provide free support to heklp you diagnose and repair your TV with the purchase of the manual. If you would like the link let me know. They email the service manual after purchase.

There are (4) 1000uf @35V capacitors all together on the DM board that need to be replaced some models have 1000uf @ 16V but they are all right beside each other and all rated at 1000ufs the voltages will be stamped on the capacitor along with the uf ratings.

Good luck...

Do you mean the error code operational check returns an error code 12 or does it blink 12 times?

Ok. That is the error code operational check. Anyways, 12 blinks means no error which indefinitely means its a fault on the power supply as the microprocessor detects and identifies the problems in nearly all other circuits. The first thing we should test are the pico fuses since the main fuse on the power board seems OK. How good are your electronics/soldering skills? I do have a schematic for this model and can guide you provided you know how to use a multimeter and solder.

Well you can leave the set unplugged for a few hours to see if it can reset itself. Sometimes the set just goes into "Protect Mode" when a surge occurs and it resets itself if you leave it unplugged. If that doesn't work then component level repair is the only solution.

Its ok you can borrow or buy one provided you believe you can pull this off, with my guidance ofcourse. If you do not have any prior experience in working on electronic circuits then its not advisable to handle high voltage electronics as these things hold residual voltages for several days after they have been unplugged

3 and 5? You told me it was 1 and 2? Which of them is it?

Ok. 35 is a bit easier to solve. It means that the fan on the DM board is not working correctly. It can either be due to loose/faulty connector or the fan itself is damaged. Re-plug the fan connector and see if the problem is solved. Will you try to do it yourself?

WS-55517 Mitsubishi Rear HDTV projection tv will not turn on

2 blinks followed by 1 blink is the X-Ray protection-----means some problem in the High voltage circuit ---set produces over 25 thousand volts to fire the 3 picture tubes inside up----It could be excessive high voltage-------I think you would have to get lucky for someone to find and fix it in your home----more likely it will need a visit to a Repair shop.

TV will not turn On

Call a good TV Tech and have him check for vented capacitors in the DM module or blown pico fuses on the -24 and the +24 volt lines. If fuses are blown,it indicates the convergence amp IC's are bad.The fuses solder into the board.
