Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I open ie8 and my yahoo home page comes up. I go to open the mail and as soon as I click the screen starts to flash. This goes on indefinately. Sometimes it is hard to close it out. Sometimes it tries to open new windows. It has been going on like this for over a week. My phone opens this account with no problems as does my laptop. How do I fix this.

Have you tried to open your Yahoo mail in another browser such as Firefox? If it works in another browser, then it sounds like it may be a problem with an IE plug in. Start IE8 without add ons by going to Start, Accessories, System Tools, Internet Explorer (No add ons). If it works, then you can narrow down the problem from there. Hope this helps.

Regards,

Matt

I have lost yahoo as my home page, and cannot get to my email

There is no relation between Yahoo as home page and accessing yahoo mail.

You can always open an internet browser and type the url www.yahoo.com. On the webpage you can click on "Mail" at the top of the left column. This will take you to the Yahoo Mail site. There you can type your user name and password and login.

Anyway, if you want to set Yahoo as home page you can open your internet browser and click tool->Internet Options. This will open a dialog box. Under the "general" tab there will be a text box under "Home Page". Type www.yahoo.com in the box. Click OK.

Close the browser. When you open the browser again yahoo home page will come.

When i turn my comp on and click into internet exp my home page i

Navigate to the Yahoo site so it's on your screen.

Once there, look for "Tools" on your toolbar and click on it. From the drop down list of items, choose Internet Options at the bottom.

On the General Tab, you will see the section on Home Page. Click the Use Current button and it will change it so the Yahoo page comes up each time you open the browser.

My mail id opening page about blank how can i solve the problem

If after signing in to Yahoo mail you get 'opening page about:blank', this is a screen resolution problem. This is not caused by a virus, trojan, spyware or anything like that! Yahoo have been making changes to the appearance of their home page and also their e-mail. As a result, the screen resolution of 800 x 600 on many PCs will no-longer allow you to sign in. Try changing your screen resolution to 1024 x 768

I can't open my Yahoo email account since they changed something...my operating system is Windows 2000 and I can't get IE8.

This works in Windows XP for the 'about:blank' page hanging problem when signing in to Yahoo mail.

I am unable to open or send any emails. Where has the tab gone for classical yahoo which is normally at the top of yahoo's home page.

This generally happens when you upgrade to IE8. Try this

1) Open Internet explorer
2) Click on tools/General
3) Delete cookies then delete files
4) click OK
5) Then log onto your email.
6) In the upper left side of your page you should see Yahoo Classic (small blue lettering) OR Click "Options" on the top right corner of the screen and you must get the option to switch back to classic
7) Click on it, wait and it should work

In case you are unable to follow step 6 in IE, try using any other browser, i.e. Firefox

When I open Yahoo mail I have this message: Opening page about:BLANK I can read my email

Hi corinacostea
Some homepages have too many images and takes more time to download. So some people make the home page blank. So this is not a problem or error. It is people's choice

To get back to your yahoo page as home page
Do the following:
Open Internet Explorer , (Or directly from Yahoo screen)
click on the following
From Menu click on Tools
Options
General ( If you are using Firefox, it is MAIN)
You will see three options to choose your home page
Use Blank Use Current Use default
Choose Current OR Default
Press OK
Next time you start the IE the screen will be different.
Hope this will help you

My yahoo mail account shuts down as soon as I open it.

Instead of entering your account at your Yahoo home page go directly to the log-in page at: <https://login.yahoo.com/config/login>
If you still have problems delete all cookies from your browser and see if that works, if not contact Yahoo Customer Support for homepage problems at <http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/homepage/troubleshooting/>
