If you are talking about reloading the OS you cannot with the install disc. Take your power mac to the genius bar at the apple store and see what they can do.

I want to reboot my powermac g4. i have the startup disk i dont kno wat to type at the black screen

All you should have to do is put in disk and powermac should start from it, if not then replace the pram battery and try again. The battery is on the motherboard and can be bought at any radioshack.

My power book g4 will not start up it goes on with a white screen and the apple sign with the wheel spinning than it goes off

Please boot the system with a Mac OS X installation Media .Insert the installation media and power on the system and immediately press ' C ' key to boot it from Mac OS X installation disk. After few seconds the language selection option will appear .Click continue and then in the next screen see on top you will find "UTILITY" then click "DISK UTILITY" .Select the boot drive partition and try to repair the file permissions mentioned left hand side .If the permission repaired successfully then restart the system and check if it boots. If still you face the same issue then reboot the system with installation media again and repartition the harddrive .Install the os Freshly. The issue will get solved

I was given a apple G4 laptop an its locked with a passcode..they dont know it...how do i unlock it????

You will need the original disks that came with the laptop or a copy of Leopard or Tiger.

Insert the disk.
Power the computer off.
Power the computer back on when it chimes hit "c"
Once the disk boots you will see language selection
Choose your language
when you get to the next screen
look at the top under Utilities you will see the Reset Password option.
Be sure to save your changes and reboot.

Is it possible to reset G4 ibook, without any disk?

hi,
Here are the steps how you can reset the user / password in your notebook.

1. Reboot
2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
mount -uw /
    • rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    • shutdown -h now
  1. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you're good to go again!

No screen on start up on g4 notebook

Try reinstalling MacOS on your laptop, as far as I know, all Mac come with recovery disks. To boot of off a disk, make sure the disk is in the drive , reboot the computer, and press C while the chime is playing. You SHOULD be able to reinstall. What your describing usually happens to very old iMacs that have bad, incompatible, or no RAM installed. If none of the above works, take it to an Apple Store, they were very helpful when my iPod had a bad battery

To reboot a Mac laptop, go to the Apple logo in the top left hand corner, and click "Restart". If your computer is unresponsive, press and hold the power button for about ten seconds.
