SOURCE: Refrigerator seems to run all the time

Hey Wisper, I had a very similar problem with my Haier. Read all about it here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t180574-freezer_10_deg_fridge_50 I replaced the thermostat ($35 or so, mail ordered) but that didn't do very much. Then I replaced the Evaporator fan ($40 for an OEM part, read the details on my other page) and that did the trick. Feel free to email me if you want more details of what the job involved. SOURCE: GE refrigerator 12 years old runs continuously, exterior warm

Probably not. Newer (and I mean under 15 years old or so) refrigerators may run more % of the time than older units, but are using far less energy while running, so total energy consumption is actually less. The newest energy star models often use less electricity than a single incandescent light bulb uses if left on 24/7. If your run times are noticeably longer just recently, and there have been no other significant changes to account for it (like more and / or longer door openings or a warmer ambient temp., etc.) then you may have caught a defrost problem or bad door gasket problem early. The warm temp on the outer case near the freezer is to prevent condensation from forming in those areas, and is normal. (as a matter of fact, older refrigs often used low wattage electric heaters for that task, almost all newer units use waste heat from the cooling system to accomplish that task) Please don't bother rating this solution, as anything but a Fix-Ya lowers my overall score. Thanks.

Haier HSW02C runs ALL the time

Yes your thermostat is shorted. It's just not shutting the unit off ever. A thermostat is something you can touch as a user, so no it's not that hard to get to for replacement. Also have the unit unplugged while learning how to repair your appliance.

My subzero 550 never stops running. everything is working fine, just had freezer compressor side charged. it just seems wrong to be always running??

try to adjust your thermostat normal setting maybe you set it to maximum setting thats why the temp. cannot reach even your comp.running long hours. or maybe your ref . is over loaded try to lessen the load or your door is have leakage of cold air try to fix gasket.

I have a older hoover refrigerator and it run all the time even with the dial set to 1 the temp inside is 35 degrees

This is quite a common problem. It sounds as though the thermostat is faulty and needs replacing.

My Haier compact frig runs all time, at #1 setting: freezes all

no 1 setting is close to zero degrees C the setting should be around 4 for normal every day use
call a technician to fix /replace the thermostat
if you continue to use a metal object ( screw driver , knife, fort etc ) when defrosting , you problems with the fridge will soon be over as you will puncture the evaporator section and that is not repairable so you will require a new unit
