The panasonicCF-73 tough book I am using has 256 RAM, can I increase this to 1gb or 2gb? Thank you,

According to: http://www.upgradecomputermemory.com/ram.cfm/memory/P/Panasonic/Toughbook-Series/Toughbook-73-CF-73

your CF-73 has "integrated" 256MB of memory, and supports a maximum addition of 1GB of RAM.
The web-site says about $33, which _definitely_ is a good investment to speed-up your computer.

I forgot my password for my panasonic tough book cf-73,what can i do

You could go into safe mode and change your password, you can do this by tapping f5 key when system is starting up, then go to your control panel then into user accounts. Just make sure you are logging in as the administrator.

If your not running windows xp you will have to tap f8 when starting system for vista.

Hope this help. :)

I was using my tough book for several months , plugged into the wall, only as the battery no longer holds power---It worked fine for my basic purposes--( windows 98 !! ) occasional word processing and my...

On all Panasonic Toughbooks, I would suggest to physically remove the battery pack and unplug the unit. Then WITHOUT putting the battery back in, try to plug back in the Toughbook and turn on the unit. This is even a suggestion from Panasonic Technicians themselves.
This process will "dissipate" any charge which may be preventing your Toughbook from turning on.
I hope this works for you and Good Luck!

I dropped my panasonic tough book C-484HHUEM when working on it

Yes it is VERY likely the harddrive that is damaged given the symptoms that you are reporting, most especially if the drive was in use when the drop occurred or if it was onto a hard surface. I recommend just purchasing a new 2.5" 320gb sata drive off of ebay (asking to make sure it is compatible with your system) as they only cost $65, and self disassembling. Instructions for disassembly can be found here:
http://www.laohu.co.uk/r4/hdd/cf-r4-hdd.html

otherwise you can take the computer into a shop and pay them to fix it.
