I had an HP 6110 Officejet All-in-One that did the same thing. After exploring the issue with Canon's support techs, I was disappointed to discover that some new programs, including Office Word 2007, were no longer compatible with my printer's duplex feature. I ended up buying a Canon PIXMA MX870.

How do you change "print page setup" from Default:

Go to the list of installed printers on your PC, right click on the name of the printer affected, and select Properties.

  1. Click the Device tab. NOTE: This may be listed as the Install Options tab in some programs.

  2. Most driver programs will have either an Update or an Ask Printer button. See the highlighted example in the picture below. Clicking this button instructs the program to check the printer's current configuration and settings. The program will then update the driver to reflect the current settings and installed items.
Dialog box

If your driver program does not have an Update/Ask Printer button or if the button is disabled or does not work, you can add the duplex option manually. Select Duplex Option and select your choices. Here you can configure the printer for your needs.
