Question about Garmin nuvi 200W GPS Receiver
This display will normally show when your GPS has been connected to your computer. This is to let you know that your GPS is communicating normally with your computer and you are able to copy files between the two units. If this display is showing at other times, it may be that your unit software is not functioning correctly. You can try and reset your GPS to see if that will resolve your issue. There is a Reset button on the bottom of your unit. Turn on your Garmin, and using something small enough, but without a sharp point, depress the button for about 10-12 seconds. The unit should reboot, and then start operating as it normally would operate.
If the rest doesn't resolve your issue, you may have to reload your unit software. With the unit powered off, connect the USB cable that came with your GPS to your unit, and the other end to your computer. The unit to your should power itself up, display the Garmin logo, and then show you the graphic with the computer and GPS. You will see a white line about halfway up the GPS screen that will change to green. Once that is done go to the Garmin website. If you haven't already done so, you will have to register the unit. Go to the following website:
You will have to register yourself if you haven't already done so. The website should then automatically read your GPS model and serial number. It should also be able to tell that there is a problem with your unit software. If so, you will see a display telling you that the site has to update your GPS. It will tell you approximately how long it will take to copy the necessary files to your GPS. It will then instruct you on how to disconnect the GPS, and allow it to reboot. Once the reboot is complete everything should go back to normal. If not, the website will then tell you how to contact their support group, who will then instruct you on how to download all of the software that you will need, and then how to load it on to your GPS.
