Usually you have a button (according to printer's manual) that places the ink carriage to the correct position to replace the ink cartridges, or in print manager of your operating system, if not than you can cheat by powering on the printer and when the carriage unparks (move) power it off immediately before it goes back to the parking position, by pulling the power plug, than you can freely move the ink carriage by hand to the desired position to change the ink cartridge, once that is done you plug the printer back on....

Good luck!

Indicates black ink empty when its not.

Try removing the cartridge and shaking it. Brother printers use an optical ink monitor with a float inside the cartridge. The float can get stuck sometimes and indicate incorrect ink level.
But keep in mind that printers often indicate 'empty' (on purpose) while there is still bit of ink left in the cartridge, to prevent running out of ink during printing. If shaking doesn't help, replace the cartridge.

When printer top open, how do I change an ink?

Most printers are the same so: open printer top - inks with automatically move to the centre - press down, although do not force, the end of the cartridge closest to you (which dislodges the cartridge) lift out and replace with - after removing protective covers - new cartridge, by reverse action.

I bought a black ink for my hp photosmart c5 180 and the when i turn on the printer it says the ink has expired. Can i still use it or will i damage my printer. Thanks regards Anita

Hello
according to HP
Each ink cartridge has an expiration date. The purpose of expiration is to protect the printing system and to ensure ink quality. When you receive an ink cartridge(s) are expired message, remove and replace the expired ink cartridge, and then close the message. You can also continue printing without replacing the ink cartridge, by following the instructions on the HP All-in-One or the ink cartridge expiration message on your computer screen. HP recommends replacing the expired ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of expired ink cartridges. Device service or repairs required as a result of using expired ink will not be covered under warranty.

How to test the epson stylus color 440 printer wthout a ink cartridge

You cannot test an Epson printer without both ink cartridges installed with a good supply of ink in them. All the printer will do is turn on the power. Nothing more. There is no way around this problem. They are built this way on purpose. The print heads in the printer can be ruined by allowing the printer to sit without ink cartridges in it. If you replace them, you might find that it no longer works depending on the amount of time it has sat without ink.

If you are considering purchasing a used printer that does not have any ink cartridges to test and see if it works, then all I can adivse is to be careful. You can get refilled cartridges from a company who sells them professionally for about 1/3 of the cost of brand new cartridges from a department store. Be careful using refilled cartridges though. It may void the printers warranty with Epson.

Hope this helps?

How do I make the cartridge move to change position on Epson C44 Plus

To replace an ink cartridge using the maintenance button, follow these steps. Turn the printer on, the power light should be on and not flashing.
Open the printer cover. Press the maintenance button (ink-drop symbol). The print head moves to the black ink cartridge replacement position first. Press the maintenance button again to switch to the color cartridge replacement position.

Trying to change ink cartridge in canon pixma 3000

Hi

If you are replacing. Power on - lift top front lid of printer - wait till cartridges come to centre and stop FULLY. Lift clear tab at front of cartridge being replaced and remove cartridge. Insert new cartridge -press top fron down until clear tab clicks then shut top lid of printer.
Then go Start-Programs- Printers select the Ip3000 priter icon, right click - select maintenance - selelct nozzle check and follow instructionson screen. You may have to do a deep clean (ee on screen) if the ink has dried a bit in the printhead.

If tryinmg to refill the cartridge - unless you are an expert at it forget it - buy either genuine or quality aftermarket cartridges - No mess - no fuss - no ruined printer .

I need directions on how to replace my ink cartridge on a HP officejet v40. My husband purchased this printer, but I don't know when, and he has since passed away. The support on the phone wouldn't help...

Hi, normally when you open the printer the ink cartridges will go to the centre and you can unclick the cartridges to replace them. On some printers you need to press a button which brings the cartridges to the centre so you can replace the cartridges.
