Printer is running out of ink. To put new cartridge in I lift the lid and normally cartridge carrier moves over to left allowing replacement of cartridge. Today no movement---why? Green light is flashing...

Hi there.

It's probably jammed by dirt. Unplug the printer, move the carriage out of the way and clean thoroughly the metallic rails the carriage runs to using a cue tip.You might have to move the carriage multiple times to clean it totally. Finally spread a little fine grease over the metallic rail and again move the carriage from side to side. Now plug it in and try using it.

Let me know what happens.

How to refit the epson scan printer cartridge

Turn on your printer and open the top cover (not just the scanner lid) and press the maintenance button (the little paper icon with a drop) and wait for the head to move into the maintenance position. Now lift the ink cartridge clamp to expose the ink cartridge and carefully lift the old cartridge out. Now open the new cartridge and remove the yellow strip, but however do not touch the green tab, now insert the new cartridge with the green tab facing toward the front of the printer. Now close the clamp and re press the maintenance button and wait for the printer to recognise the new ink cartridge (30 secs.) And you are finished.
Thanks,
Ash.

How do you load new printer cartriges

To replace an ink cartridge using the fonth.gif ink button, follow the steps below.
1. Make sure that the printer is on. The fontp.gif power light should be on, but not flashing.
2. Lower the output tray, then open the printer cover.
3. Press the fonth.gif ink button. The print head moves to the ink cartridge replacement position, the fontp.gif power light begins to flash, and the fonth.gif ink out light corresponding to the ink cartridge that needs to be replaced begins to flash or remains on.
4. Open the cartridge cover. Pinch the sides of the ink cartridge that you want to replace. Lift the cartridge out of the printer and dispose of it properly. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it.
5.Remove the new ink cartridge from its protective bag. Place the ink cartridge vertically into the cartridge holder. Then, push the ink cartridge down until it clicks into place. Do not apply excessive force to the cartridge.
6. When you are finished replacing the cartridge, close the cartridge cover and the printer cover.
7. Press the fonth.gif ink button. The printer moves the print head and begins charging the ink delivery system. The fonth.gif ink lights start flashing. This process takes about one minute to complete. When the ink charging process is finished, the printer returns the print head to its home position. The fontp.gif power light will stop flashing and remain on, and the fonth.gif ink out light will turn off. The fontp.gif power light will continue to flash while the printer is charging ink. Never turn off the printer while this light is flashing.

Both red lights are flashing on printer Epson Stylus C84. I did not go to the utility to replace a black ink cartridge (forgot), replaced it and now it is stuck.

You will need to get it to reset to normal. If you tried turing off/on and it does not clear, try the following:

1) Unplug the power from the rear of the printer for 30 seconds.

2) Plug it back in and press power button. if you hear the carriage moving, immediately pull the power cord out againg from the rear. If it does not move, open the lid as if to change cartridges...when it moves, pull the plug. The idea is to stop it where you can remove the cartridges.

3) If you are succesfull with steps 1 & 2, close the lid and plug the power cable back in.

4) Power on and see if it prompts you for cartridges.

5) If so, install the cartridges in the proper manner as instructed in the manual.

Orange ink light keeps flashing and printer won't print

hello,
To correct this problem, unlock the carriage from the printer‘s capping station.
  1. Lift the lid to the printer (cartridges are on the right side.)
  2. Turn the printer off, then power it on again.
  3. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer when the grinding noise starts.
  4. Move the carriage towards the middle of the printer (this procedure may take a couple of tries to get the timing correct.)
  5. Take out the cartridges and close the top cover.
  6. Reconnect the power cord. The power and the resume lights (green and red) should be on.
  7. Open the top cover, reinstall the cartridges, and close the top cover.
  8. The printer should print the alignment page.
  9. Print from another application.
    thank u

Have a mac g4 running os 9.1 need printer

There are a couple of mechanical things that can cause the printer light to flash. Now, this is by no means the technical explanation of these items but... they may help.

Okay, the first item is the lid sensor. If the lid gets stuck this sensor will cause the resume light to blink. To do this, lift the lid on the printer, locate the sensor (black plastic arm
located on the right side of the right lid hinge), and move the sensorup and down to unstick it. Close the lid and the light should stop
flashing.

If the above does not resolve the problem, then it may be the paper sensor on the unit. To locate the paper sensor you must remove the entire paper tray. To remove the paper tray, grab and pinch the two prongs underneath the paper tray. The paper tray should come loose and easily be removed from the printer. Now, on the right hand side of the printer, about 4 inches up you will see a free standing black arm. Try moving this arm back and forth to free it up. Then reinstall the paper tray.

If neither of these items work, then try cleaning the printer contacts on the printer cartridge and in the printer carriage (where cartridge sits). When cleaning the contacts on the cartridge, use a clean, dry, soft cloth. Only wipe one time
from the top to the bottom (nozzle end) of the flex circuit.
Do not wipe the nozzles. The reason for this is that the contacts are coated with a lubricant that can potentially be removed if water is used. Removing the lubricant can potentially damage the cartridge or the printer.
If the cleaning does not resolve the problem, then try a TWO NEW cartridges.

If all of the above steps do not resolve the problem, you will want to contact Hp for service.

Cannot get LCD screen to show Replace Ink message

try this

1. Make sure your unit is powered and not printing.

2. Press the SETUP button and then use the select arrows until you see REPLACE INK, then press the COLOR COPY button. The ink cartridges will move to the replacement position.

3. Lift up the unit's cover, to access the ink cartridges.

4. Pinch the tabs on the front and back of the cartridge, and lift it out of the printer.

5. Before removing the new cartridge from it's package, shake the cartridge 4-5 times. Do not shake the cartridge once it has been removed from the cartridge holder.

6. Lower the new cartridge into its holder, then press down on the top of the cartridge until it clicks in place. Caution: Don't touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge, as you may inhibit normal operation and printing.

7. Repeat steps 4-6 for any other ink cartridges that require replacement.

8. Once complete, please lower the scanner and press it down until it clicks into place. The EPSON Stylus RX500 begins charging the ink delivery system.

The On light flashes and the EPSON Stylus RX500 makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it's finished, the On light stops flashing and stays on steady. At this point press COPY to move back to COPY mode.

Caution: Never turn off the EPSON Stylus RX500 while the On light is flashing, unless the Stylus RX500 hasn't moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.
