Check the small air hose on the pressure switch located inside the operator console. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575901-washer_overflows

The hose can sometimes come loose from years of vibration. If the air hose is attached, check for any splits, cracks or holes in the air hose. If the air hose is not air tight, the pressure switch will never detect the water pressure differential from the wash tub as it fills. If it never detects the pressure, it will not shut off the water inlet valves.

If you verify the air hose to be installed correctly with no leaks, replace your pressure switch. Replacements can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices will vary, so shop each site and compare. The first three sites listed, also include helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER (located on a nameplate under the wash tub rim under the lid) and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

My Sears series 80 washer fills till it is overflowing and doesnt shut off water flow, it was overflowing onto floor this morning, it is full to the rim now, and wont drain or do anything when it is turned...

The usual arrangement is there are 2 electrical water inlet valves, one for Hot and 1 for Cold. These valves are turned on by the timer, and remain on until the water level switch turns them on, and allows the washer to then run. It sounds like this water level switch is bad. This switch should be in the panel above the top of the washer, and has a rubber/plastic tube that goes toward the washer drum. It is also possible that the rubber tube is off or blocked. (if the water inlet valve is stuck open, turning the washer off will NOT stop the water).

Good Luck,
Bill

Hi I have a problem with my Kenmore washing machine,in particular I can not use hot water anymore. When I use my washing machine hot water does not stop at set water filling level (law, medium,high)...

Please post the model number for your washer. It sounds like your hot water valve has failed and is not closing. Unplug your washer's power cord and turn the hot water spigot that comes out of the wall on. If you still get water filling your washing machine, it's definitely the washer's valve and you will need to install a new set (hot and cold valves are both part of the same assembly).

I have a Kenmore 500 top load washer that doesn't hold water. As it is filling for the wash cycle all the water runs down the drain

The drain hose outlet must be higher than the 'full' water level in the tub or the water will syphon out until the tub water equals the hose height. If the drain system you are using for the washer is floor level, then you need to install a vertical pipe (1-1/2" minimum) to place the hose end into at the top and it should eject the water through a 90 degree elbow onto the floor at the bottom. There are more elegant solutions, but this will stop the tub from self-draining. Good luck!

The water keeps filling and doesn't stop until I turned the washing machine off. I changed cycles and it keeps filling with water. It just flooded the garage.

there is a water level pressure control and hose and either one could be bad.  the hose can become clogged  or the pressure switch could have gone bad.

Water level dont stop I bougth a new part and still have the same problem the water dont stop.

put the washer on cold, start to fill washer, turn washer off if water still keeps filling you have a bad water valve,do the same test on hot,if both turn off when you push stop then check the water level hose from the water level switch to the tub,if both ends are secure then replace the water level switch-mike

Kenmore 80 series model# 110.28803890

Hello. Yes there is a fill level pressure switch. It is pressure activated by the pressure of water rising in a tube as the water rises in the tub. It's easy to find and easy to replace. Look for the tube and follow it to the switch. Parts for Kenmore are available at 1-800-516-9625 or at http:\www.sears.com.
Good luck.

Kenmore 2.1 cu. ft Washer water won't stop filing, cycle doesn't start...

most likely cause
kenmore pressure sensors work off a tube that runs from the bottom of the drum to the sensor, either the tube has come off the sensor body inside the control panel
  • open control panel reattach tube, wrap wiretie or twisttie to keep in plpace
or less likely cause
kenmore level sensors fail
there is a spring inside that stretches over time and mis reads, it is adjustable
  • control panel is still open from previous check
  • remove level selector from control panel, usually an unlock latch on the right side, rotate 45deg counter clockwise withdraw.
  • there is a 1/8 inch bolt head, turn right raise water level, turl left lower water level

Kenmore heavy duty 70 series extra capacity

This could be from a few things. First test. Turn on the washer to fill it up about 3/4 the way. Now turn it back off. Does the water stop? No? You probably have a bad water valve. Replace it. Yes? Listen for the sounds of running water or look for water on the floor. Do you see/ hear this? Yes? Your pressure hose has probably come off, reattach it. If it does turn off and there is not further sounds or leaking water, you probably need to replace your pressure switch.
