It only has 3 buttons, power, cancel, sheet feeder.

Press and HOLD the power button, the X changes to a
unit code factor of 10, and the page button changes to a code factor of
one. DO NOT do this code with the network cable plugged in
To enter 230, press and hold the power button (light
goes off but unit stays on), then press the X button 23 times, Let them
both loose. Wait about 20 seconds, and print yourself out a
configuration page (by holding X until printer starts working to print).

The printer will not recognize the black cartridge

Take the cartridge out and put it back in several times. Turn on and
off the printer and unplug and plug back in the printer. Try putting an
old black cartridge in and see if it reads it. Then put the new one
back in. Repeat these steps several times. If it reads the old
cartridge you may just want to buy a new ink cartridge. If none of
these work you can always send it in for repair

How to reset HP Ink Levels Printer hp officejet pro k8600

the only way to reset ink levels is to replace the cartridge(s). If you're refilling, you need a second set of cartridges and use them in rotation with the first set.

For some reason my HP Officeject Pro K8600 is reading empty yellow ink cartridge even after I replace it. I have replaced the cartridge several times with a new cartridge but it still won't work. Why? ...

The mount that holds the spring for the yellow ink cartridge pump arm in the service station is probably broken. You will have to replace the ink-service station.
